Review on 🔧 Loctite 492145 545 Thread Sealant for Pneumatic and Hydraulic Applications, 36ml Bottle by Jacob Seymour

Revainrating 5 out of 5

generous. but worth every penny

Original review May 12, 2013: I have been using PTFE tape for years and prefer tube lube. But this material made me discard PTFE forever in scenarios where 24 hour cure time is not a factor. Apply as a liquid to strands and within 5 minutes it will begin to turn into a purple paste-like material - plenty of time to set in place. Vibration resistance plus sealant in one - I like it. Additional Summary Added April 29, 2014: Almost a year later, the on-board air system I built for my car is still holding 200psi without a single leak; It has a lot of fittings and I used most of the bottle in this project. Also, every air tool I own now has this thread sealant in place of the PTFE tape where the industrial nipple attaches to the tool - no leaks. I bought a retainer top house last December and had to replace the water heater and pressure tank and again this sealant was used to make leak free connections. I recently used the last of my first bottles for an indoor (to house) installation with a 3/4" threaded ball valve and the included bib for an outdoor hose to bring water from my house to my dock and I have just received the bottle that i wanted to replace. Bit goes a long, long way. I've also learned from use that while a 24 hour cure time is recommended, for low pressure, non-wet scenarios (i.e. a 20 minute wait. I've never waited less than 15-20 minutes. Time to dry material to use I have always sealed Had good seals I would give full cure time in wet conditions just in case but that's me.
