It broke after a couple of uses

I purchased in 2019 and tested it. I tried it a couple of times in 2020 to test some commands and it worked. Image was OK with very small field of view. Night vision was not very effective, as it could only clearly capture objects probably 60 cms/25 inches away. Night vision was still very dark and with a purple hue. After the first couple of uses I stored it in a safe place and tried to use it again at the end of 2020 but this time it did not work at all as my program was throwing many errors.

Pros
  • Works well, both in light and dark.
Cons
  • Poor night vision performance

The IR cut filter stopped working after a few months

I decided on this camera over others because it included an automatic IR cut filter (photoresistor controlled). It worked great when first assembled, however after a few months it has stopped working. It is permanently in daytime mode. I have verified the filter still works because it clicks when powering on, however the sensor must have failed because after that I cannot get it to change states.

Pros
  • Other than wishing it came with more options than just ribbon cable, I love it. Works perfectly.
Cons
  • Product does not come with heatsinks for the two IR LED's that is needed for prolonged usage .

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works great, when it works.

The LED's run hot out of the box, but they can be adjusted by turning a dial on each LED module with a screw driver. The lowest voltage? I could achieve makes them produce no noticeable heat. The LED's are always on (regardless of surrounding light level) while the raspberry pi has power. My unit seems to be defective, often get a "No data received from sensor. Check all connections, including the Sunny one on the camera board" when running raspivid/raspistill. The contact between the FFC and…

Pros
  • Printed a case to go with my custom made ender 3 pi arm and boom off to the races.
Cons
  • Lacks durability

A Nice Computer Vision (CV) Capability for RPi 3!

Raspberry Pi 3 (RPi 3) is a complete system with excellent computational power. However, without a camera RPi 3 is essentially blind.I teach an RPi 3 course in Cogswell College in San Jose, CA which has Face Recognition (FR) as part of the curriculum. We found this camera to provide sufficient resolution and other capabilities to make our FR project a complete success. It does require fastening four little screws for its installation, however with Cana Kit’s flat ribbon that is provided it only…

Pros
  • Very easy to use
Cons
  • Incompatible with some Raspberry Pi models

Works great, but gets hot

Good camera, but be aware that it gets very hot when the IR LEDs get turned ON. I definitely advise attaching heatsinks top the back of the LED PCB.Another thing I’d like to mention is that there are 3 IR sensors. One on the camera to switch it to/from the night mode and one on each IR LED. They all have their own threshold. In my case the IR LED turn ON when the camera is in day mode. So, the module starts heating for nothing.

Pros
  • Works great love the camera quality.
Cons
  • Limited recording capabilities

The IR LED cutoff is adjustable

Just got it today, so I'll come back and update this more after I've had a bit more time to play around with it, but it's worth noting that the IR LEDs--which do generate quite a lot of heat--use a physical light sensor as their cutoff. The sensitivity of this sensor is adjustable via a tiny (TINY) adjustable screw on each of the two LED circuit boards--tighter = less sensitive (turns off more easily), looser = more sensitive (stays on under brighter conditions). I think they ship almost fully

Pros
  • The switch between night and day does not always happen as it should.
Cons
  • This does not work with the 64 bit raspberry pi os

IR lights do not automatically shut off

The provided IR lights do not shut off in bright light conditions. The adjustable screw on each lamp only controls the brightness, not the sensitivity at which the lights turn on. I could turn the lights off by adjusting the screw, but then they would be always off (regardless of light conditions). The IR lights get very hot; so it would be great if they did not have to be on all the time. The camera did detect light conditions and properly switch to IR mode when it was dark.

Pros
  • gifted to an enthusiast who loved it. the quality is good. the performance is excellent.
Cons
  • Poor customer support

Working Great Zero 2w Build Octoprint

Running Octoprint from a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W for my first time (new to Raspberry in general.) One thing I wanted to mention is that I had everything set up before installing this camera and mount and the quality was grainy at best. I tried updating the code directly on my Pi within the config.txt (think that's the name) to bump up the resolution and FPS to 30, but the image was still grainy. I believed you had to leave the USB line as-is but uncomment that, but perhaps what I read was…

Pros
  • I bought this for my brother for Christmas in 2019 and he loved it!
Cons
  • Overpriced

Does the work of two Pi cameras

I used the camera to monitor the hens in the coop. I used the MotionEyeOS software which made it very easy to install the camera. The night vision was fine, but the distance was too close so the hens were lit up too much, but there was no way to turn down the power on the infrared lights. The daytime recording was crisp and clear - even in a dusty coop. There was a problem with the settings - I would get 2 sec recordings of motion, and then it would drop and another 2 sec motion file. I haven't

Pros
  • Utilizes a powerful 5MP OV5647 sensor for superior image quality
Cons
  • Weak shock resistance

Does what I need it to do.

Using it with Octopi to monitor my 3D printer. Nightvision works better than expected. Tiny screws and nuts are ridiculous to work with, but manageable with a good pair of tweezers. Get heat sinks for the IR lights, that will help them to last longer.

Pros
  • Comes with easy-to-follow instructions for hassle-free installation and use
Cons
  • Inadequate for professional use

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Simple set-up and works great.

Use stardard picamera drivers so it did not tame long to get running. Have not tried night vision, but day time picture quality is good.

Pros
  • Provides a compact and discreet design for unobtrusive monitoring
Cons
  • Limited customer reviews

Automatic day/night switch is very bad

Even with low light or little light conditions, the system is detecting it as day. It requires pitch dark condition. If you have a very very little light source then this device is determining it as day and it switches to day mode. The device becomes very hot. You can't hold it after sometime (less than 1 min). I don't recommend this.

Pros
  • I have used them before on other projects. They work great and are ready to use
Cons
  • Difficult to install

!ZERO! night vision !ZERO!

TINY screws & nuts that'll drive you NUTS. Quality is worse than the cheaper, regular RPi-Cam. NOT worth the money - quite dissatisfied. OH BTW, night-vision = no-(I was lied to)-vision. Running on new Pi4. Screw holes are totally incompatible with everything RPi. Beware! Read the description carefully, as the translation leaves a LOT to be desired. Pros
  • Can connect to multiple cameras for comprehensive surveillance coverage
Cons
  • Poorly designed user interface

Dark Spots on Image

I bought this camera for use with an OctoPrint on my 3D printer. I hadn't used it until recently when I got a longer ribbon cable. The photos have black spots showing up. I have confirmed that it's the camera and not the lens. I removed the lens to verify, and those black spots still show up. My return period has ended, so now I must either try to buy this again in a few weeks when I have the money; or hope the seller will allow me to still return it to them and replace it with a functional…

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Not weather-resistant

Great 5MP cam day and night

The review asks for my opinion on this product’s " Thickness, Warmth, and Sheerness.” I have been installing cameras for 33 years and I have never described a camera with those terms. The camera works great, dark rooms not a problem-great night vision. Pretty good during the day too.

Pros
  • ♥Strong customer service team - as long as you have any questions about the product, we will solve your problem immediately when we receive your email.
Cons
  • Inefficient power consumption

Worked on Raspberry Pi 4

Works with Octoprint, no issues so far, auto turns on infrared lights when dark. Happy with product so far. I plan to print adjustable mounting hardware for it to monitor my 3D prints on my CR10S pro v2

Pros
  • ♥All-day image - it's built-in ir-cut camera, automatically switches day and night mode for better and clearer image. This can avoid image color cast, which is easier for beginners to use.
Cons
  • Laggy video streaming

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good for the cost on my review.

Worked well, relatively easy to get working. I wish they provided documentation or links to documentation for connecting bad getting started.

Pros
  • ♥1080P HD Webcam - the IR video Camera is capable of 2592 x 1944 pixel static images, and also supports 1080 P @ 30 FPS, 720 P @ 60 FPS and 640 x480 P 60/90 video Recording, with 5MP Ov5647 1080P webcam sensor.
Cons
  • Not compatible with some operating systems

Decent starter IR camera module

I was able to quickly set up the IR camera module for my Raspberry PI 3 and is running from last 15 days as expected and sometimes takes decent photos in the night mode with the help of IR. Be very careful with the zoom lens and it is not automatic and had to manually set up for getting the proper image. Also, the camera doesn't do a good job at the image resolution as the people in the image are not clearly visible when they are a little far from camera.I have been using this camera for home…

Pros
  • Features adjustable focus for greater precision in capturing video
Cons
  • Limited language support

Great camera from a below average online retail store.

I like this camera. It works like it's supposed to. Ebay, however, won't work for you so I have to recommend buying it elsewhere.

Pros
  • An excellent little camera for your projects. Good resolution and it has night vision
Cons
  • Limited field of vision

Revainrating 4 out of 5

IR LEDs stay on all the time, other than that, good camera!

I needed this camera to take night pictures in a remote location that is powered by solar / battery. I would have given 5 stars as the day or night picture quality is excellent, but the fact that the ir LEDs stayed on all the time (when it was dark) was a problem. In most instances, this wouldn't matter, but where power is tight, this was an issue. I ended up addition additional circuitry to turn the LEDs on, then take a picture, then turn them off. This worked out well.

Pros
  • ♥Support all PRI model - This Raspberry Pi camera Compatible with Raspberry Pi 4/3/2/1 model B/ B +/ a + Pi zero & w.
Cons
  • Complicated set-up process
