Great purchase, super fast shipping!

I bought these for my husband a few days ago and they arrived today. Super fast shipping and the best price I could find anywhere! I saw some reviews saying this sniffer doesn't work. It almost didn't work for us until my husband figured out a few things. 1) It takes 4 (four) batteries, not 2. When you open it it only seems to hold 2, but you have to pull it out and put 2 more batteries on the back of the holder. 2) Make sure you insert the batteries correctly. My husband uses Kirkland…

Good deal for the price - if it works

I'm writing this review after receiving a second unit that didn't work. When the first one arrived, I put in new batteries and turned it on. There was no indicator light as described in the instructions which should be green when the batteries are good. Ember if not. Thinking I might have misunderstood the lamp's purpose, I pulled the block out and placed it a few feet from the Freon tank, releasing a small amount of refrigerant. No signal. Thinking I might have received a defective unit, I…

Works well for leak detector

work. My mechanic wanted $1,000 to replace the condenser. He said since he couldn't find the leak anywhere else, that must be the problem. Using a leak detector, I found that freon was leaking from one of the valves used to fill the system. (These are called Schrader valves.) Only one was leaking, but I changed both of them. I also changed the rubber rings in the plastic caps that close the valves. Valves cost two dollars and are changed each time. A box of rubber rings costs $15 online. I also

Freon leak detector

Hello everyone, for the record, I work with all types of freon, I did not find a leak, I painted everything and nothing, I bought this device and laugh, it's small and looks nice cheap but let me tell you i was. Not correct. I put the batteries in order, turned it on, looked at the lines, boom, here it is, I'm not kidding, I found less than a minute. I recommend to everyone who works with freon. When you first start, turn it on, and when the beep starts, wave it in the air to give you the…

Better than expected!

I'm a certified residential and commercial HVAC technician with 51 years of experience. Although I'm retired, I'm still trying to renovate a central home and family car. It seems to keep me busier than I'd like. I've used all the old wired electronics on the latest electronic leak detectors. They all work to varying degrees, which often leads to failed leak detection. Received it today, installed the batteries and started some testing. My main concern was whether it would find R-410a leaks, my…

Saved a day and spent $300

This is going to be a long review from my husband: I am a novice auto mechanic and after that I decided to upgrade my 17 year old car's A/C dumped R134a in the winter and had no idea such a device existed until I asked on the forums. This inexpensive device has saved me from throwing $300 worth of new parts out the window. After reassembling my A/C and making sure everything was tightened to spec (new o-rings, compressor, battery, throttle body expansion valve), I pulled the vacuum. in the…
