Used as part of an improved guyline system for a collapsible beach canopy. With a relatively light screwing movement we go into the sand. It was windy enough that those rates didn't move. The bright orange color helped with visibility to prevent tripping over it and to locate it if needed.

My husband and I got drunk on the beach and lost our prizes because of my Sportbrella sunscreen. I ordered them before realizing Sportbrella would send a replacement and I use a combination of them and a branded replacement. Both work well for protecting my Sportbrella but they are more secure and much longer than the original pegs so I think they keep my Sportbrella from flying away when it's windy on the beach.

These are very large (almost weird) thick hard plastic pegs. They are ONLY useful when placing something in loose beach sand and are NOT suitable for use in all conditions as stated in the description. If you want to use in loose soil you can, but they are so thick that for any other use it would be almost impossible to even break through the soil without a lot of work and sweat.
