Supported Linux/Unraid NVMe/SATA SSD adapter

This worked out of the box on my UNRAID server and also automatically booted Ubuntu 18.04 and Windows 10 Pro. No issues with anything and speed was on the NVMe side. The two M.2 SATA ports use cables to the motherboard's existing SATA ports and are only powered through the adapter, which was fine with me.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • disappear

It was great while it lasted.

I installed this card on my Dell Poweredge T340 Linux server. for the /boot partition and Samsung 970 EVO NVME in the NVME port on this card for the rest of the operating system. It worked great and was lightning fast. I was really VERY happy with this card. Approx. 6 months of perfect continuous operation without downtime. This would be a solid 10 star rating. However, the NVME port on the card failed after about 6 months. I spent 2 weeks troubleshooting, repairing, reinstalling. all with the…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors are here

So far, so good! in data store

I needed to add another nvme m.2 disk to my computer which made it very easy for me. Works on Linux and Windows 10 so far in my experience. Haven't tried the m.2 slots for extra data yet, but it's certainly nice. Remember that the sata slots only provide power, a sata data cable is still required.

Pros
  • Good build
Cons
  • Negative result available

Nice upgrade for my old Linux system

I upgraded my old Linux system with this drive and some M.2 SATA drives. I now have a mirrored OpenZFS pool and it works great. The only thing I found is that the connectors need some sort of locking mechanism to keep the SATA cables from falling off. I dropped a start for that.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • I don't remember but something happened

If you know your A+ very well that's 5 stars

I don't know why people are giving bad reviews on this product. I've noticed that most people try to use NVMe drives for boot options that aren't supported by your motherboard. The M.2 SATA SSD acts as a boot drive when using this product on older motherboards that only support SATA as a boot drive. Remember that if you want to use it as a boot drive, you need to connect a SATA cable to your motherboard and connect it to this adapter.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Could have chosen a more recent model

Possible solution but the product is not new

I received the card but it has already been used. Instead of risking a card that might be counterfeit, it was returned. The screws have already been removed from each bag, the card has already been assembled and is no longer in the anti-static bag, stickers indicating which screws to use have been placed in various places in the box. It's entirely possible that this card would work fine but wouldn't short out SSDs and the motherboard if this card were modified.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • protection

This is a rare item with THREE (yes, 3) M.2 card slots. ONE NVMe slot connected to the PCIe bus (rear). Older computers can't boot directly from it, but the operating system needs to see it. Then TWO M.2 SATA slots, each with a SATA connector. EACH SATA connector must be connected to a SATA controller port on the motherboard. M.2 SATA slots are NOT connected to the PCIe bus (except for power). I use it for a FreeNAS server with a small mirrored SATA boot device and then a large fast NVMe drive…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • boring packaging

Works great so far as a drive with Samsung 950pro nvme.

I think it will do. After the purchase, I decided to simply update the entire system under nvme. I haven't done enough homework to update the BIOS on the X58 EVGA. I bought a Samsung 950pro which should be backwards compatible. It works fine as a drive, but I need to do something to make it work as a boot drive. I will also try it as a boot drive on the Asus P8Z68-V LX. I know Intel won't be updating Specter & Meltdown on the I7 920, but I'm hoping they will for the I7 3770.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Expensive
