Not perfect, but close

I've postponed this review until I've had time to get used to this board. I've read tons of complaints about memory compatibility but I haven't had any, I bought Corsair XMS memory and it worked great. I don't use integrated graphics on my GTX 285. The memory really sucks, they have to go back to dual clips. The most annoying thing is that the graphics card is in the 3rd or 4th slot from the bottom, since I have a long graphics card, it covers two SATA connectors (they provide right-ended…

Great Board: Internals

This is actually my first ASUS board. I've used MSI products for the past few years with no problems, so why this change? After reading the specs of the new MSI, I liked the fact that ASUS has more features, including a core unlock that allows all cores to reach full performance, and I've also heard from friends that ASUS has really good BIOSes - manufactures chipsets. This board has some really remarkable features like USB 3 and SATA 6 that won't affect users so much now but will soon in the…

3 shocks Computer components

Now I've experienced 3 of them. In a system, the video output would disappear and eventually die. mb had an elite service to send a new one right away (which I needed). This replacement video died less than a year later and this time they said I would have to wait 3-4 weeks for a replacement after sending the broken one back (which I couldn't afford). So I just bought a PCI-E graphics card and the problem is solved. On a second machine with a very similar build I couldn't publish it from the…

Great upgrade board

I bought this board as it was the AM3 socket I was looking for. Overall I am very impressed with the board. I had a bit of a problem installing the board in my case as there wasn't enough room for the back cover. The board also has a great design, I like the mem ok button, I had some initial issues with my ram (it doesn't accept 1600mhz ram out of the box) but it's just a workaround, just pop in the ram and press mem-ok button, and everything will work fine, then just go into bios and change…

Another great board from ASUS

Although I originally had an Asus board that came with my HP computer, this is my first retail board that I've bought as part of a build. I was not disappointed. I connected the board to an X4 955 and 4 sticks Patriot 2GB memory. Booted up with no problems the first time. I was able to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit without any problems. Once the operating system was loaded, the included drivers installed without a problem. The driver pack includes great utilities like TurboV and Fan…

Great performance for non-overclockers

Now I have two of these great Asus tablets. Yes, enough to buy a second one. Installing 64-bit Win7 on both went very well. Admittedly I had some trouble updating drivers when I built the first driver last year, but the latest build in January (from Revain) came with "enough current" drivers on a CD to ensure good performance and functionality. Of course, I updated the drivers to the latest version via Windows Update. Everything seemed to be going great. Windows 7 performance is impressive with

Amazing internal product

I've been using ASUS boards almost exclusively for several years and have never had a crash. Probably, I was preparing for such a board, since the technology was new, ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 promised a lot. To be honest, I expected promises to be broken. Not so. I bought an AMD 965 board and processor from Revain, assembled the parts and was blown away by the processor's starting clock of 3.67 GHz (AMD Turbo). The 1600MHz memory was clocked at around 1460. I was impressed. And the best thing…

Just THIS /// UPDATE ALMOST 3 YEARS LATER. SIMPLY AMAZING :)

Great board for the price. I just assembled a new computer. If I knew what this board could do, I would go with the Phenom 2 965 ONLY with two exposed cores. BECAUSE THE OTHER 2 ARE SIMPLY UNLOCKED WITH THE PUSH OF A BUTTON. :) There's a lot to list, but if you're BUDGED, THIS BOARD IS FOR YOU! UPDATE update UPDATE wow WOW wow. INTERNAL VID CHIP WORKS STABLE AT 1520. IT HELPS MY OLD HD 5850 ATI XFX TO WORK LITTLE TOGETHER FOR EVEN BETTER GRAPHICS. I DON'T THINK MOST NEW GAMES WORK GREAT YET. AA

Great start for a powerful machine

This motherboard is popular for a reason. With all the features it includes, it's definitely a great investment for the price you pay. I have no doubt that there will be high-performance PC enthusiasts who would prefer a higher level, but for $150 it's hard to find too many other motherboards that can compete with this package. With so many USB ports, full SATA support, GPU and RAM/CPU boost capabilities, it's a great buy and should give you plenty of power. I recommend that if you're looking…
