Buy this one, you will love it.

Okay, let's fix the imperfections. Expensive and not easy. The good points are that the cartridge works properly. I have a very long drill and you will notice any wobble. I see nothing with this drill, quiet with a lot of torque. The extra-long trigger allows for two-finger use, and the change in speed when pressed is predictable, unlike some that go from slow to fast and you can't easily find a middle ground. Some people don't like the key chuck, but you know it won't come off when you use it.

Pros
  • Power Tools and Hand Tools
Cons
  • Crumpled

Makita 6407 - very good "old school " drill

I was looking for an "old school" drill - (1) metal chuck, stronger than plastic, (2) keyed chuck, the better tightening fits drills as new keyless chucks, (3) adjustable speed, (4) metal gears and drill body, and (5) not made in China. Makita 6407 meets most of these characteristics. The gears and the body of the drill are not made of metal. Although Revain's listing says it was made in China, I believe many of the components were made in Japan. I've only used the drill once so far. I liked it

Reliable, smooth-running drill.

I bought this Makita drill to replace my worn out 35+ year old drill that finally gave up the ghost. I know Makita makes quality tools and I don't need a cheap drill from abroad which is why I chose the brand. ). Plugged it in and the boy was surprised at how it sounded. My old drill had worn bearings and sounded like a rock on its last legs. Makita made smooth, powerful gearing sound like a mini jet engine! Little did I know how bad my old drill had gone or how smooth and powerful the Makita…
