🐠 Enhanced MarineLand LED Aquarium Light Hood with Day & Night Lighting Review

Bought this hood a year ago. I liked the idea because it was LED and had full lighting (the new kitty liked to drink water from the aquarium). The construction looked fine, the lighting was adequate (an aquarium with no plants) and powerful enough for algae to grow in the aquarium (protected from direct sunlight in my house). Used this on a timed splitter so only turned on during the day and not in night mode (there was only one plug for day and night and I won't manually turn them on and off).

I love this lid. It's well made and looks great. The LED lighting is awesome. The day function emits bright light, while the night setting provides a soothing blue backlight. I remember reading somewhere that it was meant to simulate moonlight. The only thing I would like to change about this lid is maybe add a small hinged door to access the tank without having to open the whole lid. I have had several of these supposedly premium Marineland hoods and am revising this review due to all the issues I deal with using this method every day. - an overpriced product. They may do things differently than they used to, but the lights don't last long if you use them every day. I have a 20 gallon tank with an old two piece hood and lighting system. When the blub failed, I decided to go for something fancier with LED lighting. This product fits perfectly in my aquarium and has appropriate cut outs for installing the filter and heater. The light itself is surprisingly bright and perfect for my tank size.
