A great idea! in quilting

After my arthritis got worse in my wrists and hands, it was difficult to use my regular clipper. I couldn't put enough pressure on the blade to cut properly. I stumbled across this and decided to give it a try as it wasn't that expensive. Before buying, I went to the Martelli website and watched a video about it. It sold me pretty well. I received it yesterday and tested it on 2 layers of denim and wow! It cuts so easily and perfectly and doesn't require much pressure to cut. The secret lies in

Only Martelli replacement blades are used! Not cool.

I'm only giving 5 stars because the cutter is great for an arthritic hand and I feel like I have to be honest. BUT the one I have is a newer model and this model _only_ accepts Martelli blades which have a smooth round center hole, not Olfa blades with a serrated center hole. Of course, Martelli blades are expensive and harder to find locally. This will NOT work with an Olfa blade. I feel like the company took advantage of their market by going to a proprietary blade. As soon as another brand…

I love almost every Martelli product I've tried, almost without exception. For me the perfect cutting machine. But even after 3-4 years with Martelli cutters, changing blades scares the hell out of me. The diagram shows a "lowering" paddle, a "loading" soft simplicity that is far from easy or safe in my experience. I beg the folks at Martelli to put their considerable effort into developing a better change system. I've learned to take off the translucent shield and charge my blade that way, but

Think and plan ahead before using it for the first time.

I have owned and used this slicer for over 10 years. I have an old model and I've honestly worn it out, even glued some parts together. When I decided to buy a new one, especially a newer model, I carefully read the reviews, watched the videos on the site, and zoomed in on the picture here on Revain. I bought and received the new model in record time, may I add. Here is my best advice after successful use and remember this is my personal opinion not necessarily shared by the company. First…
