I have a LOT of cheap plastic quick release/quick release rod clamps that I use in his wood workshop. Most of them have very little holding power, except for the Jorgensen brand. Ratchets differ between the two types, the main difference (to me) is that the Quick Gear pawl does not fully engage the ratchet. Having used these clamps for a few weeks this has not proved to be a problem in practice, although I'll have to wait and see if this translates into a durability issue. Despite the ratcheting issue, I prefer the Quick Serrated Clamps. They are quicker to use and easier to align because one of the clamping surfaces is a steel pivot plate. Stronger clamping force too…
