Maxell make a very good product and if for some reason you still use VHS cassettes this is a great one Choice for a higher class band. I've never had a Maxell break, no matter how many times I've watched the tape and on how many different computers it's been viewed.

Bad 8 hour camera and photo tape

I have bought 8 8 hour tapes and so far only one is bad. I still have 4 new ones and I hope they are ok. I've always used Maxell tapes and the old ones that have been re-glued over and over again still work well. New products don't last forever these days, but at least I thought they would last at least one record. Now I will only buy Sony tapes.

VHS still lives in my house

I still use VHS to record my shows. Yes I know I'm old fashioned. I still have a VCR. If it ain't broke, why replace it with the latest and greatest? My old 6 hour cassette broke after years of use, I checked Amazon to see if I could get the cassettes and I can see for a long time that they are still available =) so I took this 8 hour cassette, so I could record more concerts. The tape is excellent, high quality.

Pros
  • This premium quality video cassette is designed for excellent picture and sound quality

Tape wears out very quickly

I have bought LOTS of these tapes. They are useful if you want to record something once and then just watch it from time to time. But if, like me, you keep tapping on them on a daily basis, they will deplete VERY FAST. They start to decompose, some within 2 weeks and others within 2 or 3 months. When I received them, one or two were defective. If, like me, you want something permanent, this type of tape just doesn't seem to hold up. I would recommend a TOP GRADE tape.

Pros
  • Lifetime warranty
Cons
  • Something else

I have been using Maxell tapes for over 30 years and have been surprised at the exceptionally poor quality of these tapes. They are now made in Korea, not Canada, so beware of old reviewers giving these tapes high marks. They're probably visiting a discontinued Canadian version, which I loved too. Changing the country of manufacture can result in a serious loss of quality. After 1-4 uses the image scrolls on the screen and won't resolve with the tracking controls, there are severe dropouts and…

Pros
  • Ideal for recording stereo broadcasts and recording extended playback
