Works as intended for puller kits

I used it once. Not sure if the hook shape is weird or not. It worked great removing the filter gasket from the 4L60 transmission.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some bugs

It worked.: Tools and Equipment

Not the easiest seal remover to use, but I removed the trailer bearing seals last week. Took some serious hits but they really worked. I've found that it's best to hold the bar yourself, being careful not to bang your fingers.

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Zero

Large, heavy tool for tools and equipment

This is a large tool. I used it to remove the output shaft seal on an NP205 transfer case. It's a bit fiddly to use and I see limitations in where it can be used (forget small limited clearance seals). I doubt you'll ever wear it or damage it, even with daily use.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Almost ok

Not good with design flaw

Not good with design flaw. The handle can only be held with two fingers, making it difficult to control the tool. Not only is the "hook" end rounded and not entirely flat, but the tool also has a strong tendency to slip. I had to modify mine with a grinder to get a sharp edge that could hold onto something like a bearing or other tool. Maybe a little longer.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Small things

a solid, well-made tool, but it's huge.

Sturdy, well-made tool, but huge. I bought it thinking I could use it to pull out connecting rods, cams and rear main seals on car engines as the Lisle tool I use now isn't very good. However, you can't use this on crank seals unless you're using 12V71 Detroit or something. The only seal on a car/light truck that I see working might be the rear axle seal.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • No

Very easy, very inexpensive, will probably last forever!

This gets the job done in a snap. The hook should be more defined and curved back a bit to look more like a hook as it will want to pop out of the sealing edge when hit with the hammer. The L-shaped part at the back can also be longer for better grip. But overall it's an inexpensive tool and it gets the job done. If you're on a tight budget, this will work.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Exchange availability

One of the best seal removers for professionals or serious handymen!

A serious tool that no professional can do without! This makes working in awkward places a lot easier! Good for right and hard-to-reach places that require leverage. The side bumper is great for tapping or hammering really tight joints! Every specialist workshop should have at least one of these as a standard tool! Mayhew makes some of the finest instruments in the world, proudly made in the United States of America!

For experienced tradesmen/mechanics only

Not exactly pictured but appears to be well made. The only difference was the shape of the anchor. Exactly what I was looking for. I had trouble removing the rear transmission seal on my 2001 Toyota 4runner. I tried using another seal puller with a hook on both ends but the metal seal bent my tool. There was enough clearance between the transmission shaft and the seal for me to use this tool to remove the seal. Great addition to my tool box. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others
