Excellent quality wheel locks at a reasonable price!

I just bought a set of these locks for my motorhome and am very happy with them. The quality is exceptional including the chrome plating. They are easy to install and provide years of trouble free service. I have them on all my cars and have never had any problems. The key should be kept in a safe place for easy access in the event of a flat tire or other service needs. Overall, this is a highly recommended quality product at a great price!

  • Handy item

5 castles :-) , finally!

Finally a set of five locks. I have a Jeep Liberty with a spare tire in the back. Most lug lock kits only have four locks. So I had to buy two sets and keep two keys in the car. A few years ago I had a spare tire stolen in a very public lot and will not drive without a lock and nut after spending over $400 changing the tire, rim and pressure sensor in it. Externally mounted spare tires are too easy to remove and toss into the truck in about a minute without locking nuts.

Works as it should. Suitable for wheel accessories and parts

The product is easy to install. I had a problem unscrewing native nuts. I used a ton of WD-40 and broke a 3/8" drive breaker, a regular 3/8" drive head and a 3/8" drive adapter. I was able to take them off by 1/2 inch. an operating impact head and a 1/2 inch breaking bar with a long tube attached for leverage. Don't be a fool like me and try 3/8 inch powered tools. Go to Harbor Freight and get a 1/2 inch disc if you don't have one. If you have the right size pry bar and can put a pipe on it it…

Unreliable IMO on wheel locks

They work, but an experienced tire fitter can break them with tools in 5 minutes each or less. Still, with all the hype, the robbery would have been obvious. I actually ordered them thinking the key would fit the same brand of lock lugs as mine but they were different. I got new tires and the company broke the key in the lock ring. Ruined my day and cost me $40. For the most part, the company won't fix their mistake, but my boss is a co-owner of this tire business and, for his part, treats me…

Well insured is best under Accessories and Parts

When I bought a new Chevy 1500 pickup, these wheel locks were installed by the dealer as an option. I haven't given it much thought as I don't live in a particularly high crime area and I'm not really worried about people stealing my bikes. I later bought a brand new Crownline boat and trailer to match and our plans for the summer are to leave the truck and trailer unattended in the yard for long periods of time. I bought an extra set of these wheel locks to lock the trailer's wheels as they…

Minimum Torque Latch

These tabs are cast, not solid, and that's important. When first installed by hand, the locking eyelet on my spare tire broke in two with minimal torque (hand tight only, no power or air tools). Luckily I was able to line up the broken part with the rest of the tab and loosen it from the threads (this should indicate how little torque was on the tab when it broke). To their credit, McGard staff quickly replaced the broken tip. Fast forward a few months and the same thing happened again. The…

Great quality 30 years ago and still

I have been using this type of McGard wheel lock on various vehicles for over 30 years. I recently bought a set of 5 for my Jeep Wrangler JK. The quality of the material is excellent as always. The good thing is that they offer them in sets of 5 for those who have externally mounted spare tires. The detent protrudes slightly above the rest, but that's to be expected given the detent crown. I've had no problem cleaning the key lip, but I always use a manufacturer's specified torque wrench. In…

Not complete proof, but better than nothing.

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD Unlimited and wanted to mount the spare tire to the trunk (don't forget to use the red chevron to secure the mounting bolts to the car or someone could run off with all the rails/ support blocks). I was happy to see that these lock nuts appear to be very well made. I've had no problems with them rusting or even losing their nickel luster. I have an issue with them and that is the length. Since my Jeep has aluminum tires (I've heard steel is fine), the factory nuts
