Medium Replacement Compatible PetSafe Freedom Review

Alleged direct replacement for petsafe 11038. While the size is a fairly good fit, the hole sizes combined with the thickness of the plastic prevent the ORIGINAL screws from fitting properly. The screws go through the plastic holes when tightened. I've found that using #6 washers helps keep the bolts from going through thinner plastic than stock. Compared to the original PET valve, this plastic is thinner.

This replacement dog door was just what we needed. Installation took about 10 minutes. It's a bit stiffer than the old one (about 10 years old) so our dogs need to relearn how hard to push on the valve to get in and out; However, they do an excellent job. We appreciate that this new valve seals better and we don't lose as much heat or air conditioning. Great product and half the price of Petsmart & Chewy. Will definitely buy this again.

Definitely not easy to install. Came without instructions. Too wide for the hole. Not very flexible. The dog pushes through and it often doesn't close properly. I hope that with prolonged use and warm weather it will become more flexible and the sides more comfortable. To assemble we had to remove the old frame with 6 long bolts and nuts to properly insert the 4 bolt cover. We thought it would be a lot easier, but we did it. I hope I get happier with the flap over time. Good price.

After watching videos on the internet I decided I could replace the valve myself. My valve doesn't just slide in and out though, it has screws and a rod inside that you screw into. I had a hard time holding the board in place by screwing in the screws on the other side of the door. A second pair of hands would be nice. Instead, I lay on the floor, spreading the door open, trying to reach both sides at once! I did it, but it took longer than I thought. Also, I find that these flaps don't fit as…
