Perhaps the best on the market

2005 Silverado 5.3. Mileage 210000km. Low oil pressure due to O-ring shrinkage on intake manifold. This pump makes a little more pressure than my original one. It works great and my engine is quieter than ever. All work is carried out from the front with the oil pan in place. Dremel modification to the intake manifold for reassembly.

Pros
  • Outstanding Overall Performance
Cons
  • Volume

For Gen 3 LS engines only!

This model is 1999 - 2007 4.8/5.3/6.0. If you have active fuel management/cylinder deactivation on a Gen 4 LS (2005 and up) you will need a Melling M365 or M10355HV as they will provide the correct oil pressure and quantity. excellent finishes. Don't be like me and order twice. Now you need to find an older LS to put this on lol.

Pros
  • Sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than others

excellent quality would recommend to anyone

The oil pump was as advertised, good value and worked as well as it could. My oil pressure was restored but I think the real problem was the o-ring on the intake manifold was very loose and sucked in air when cold, after the engine warmed up the oil pressure was decent but the new OIL PUMP increased that Print. about 20 pounds to 55 pounds per square inch. Personal note: The oil pan can be removed without lowering the front differential, an engine mount was used to raise the engine.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Needs an outlet

Worked great on my 2000 Silverado!

I replaced cams and heads on my Silverado 5.3 from 2000. The engine has about 270,000 miles on it and so far I have changed the camshaft and timing chain as the old saying goes because you could have changed it too! The OE still held good pressure but was slowly losing about 30% of the oil life remaining on the monitor (37psi idle, 45psi cruise). Lasts 60 after warming up at cruising speed and 42-45 at idle. Melling oil pumps have never let me down! Updated 05/02/2019. 5700 miles since…

Great product suitable for replacement

Much needed oil pump for Vortec V8. Like many of the reviews posted here. Low oil pressure with high mileage. When the car goes uphill or downhill, the valves also start ticking like crazy. Did all the research, although some say it's an oil ring around the intake manifold or a bad pump. I decided to just replace the entire assembly. My car is a 2004 GMC Envoy XL (VIN P 5.3L LM4). The overall difficulty of this car is that the front differential/countershaft/axle decoupler is connected to the…

. I had several symptoms, all of which told me it was the elevator man's knock. I was told I would have to replace the pushrods and camshaft to stop it. The symptoms I've had are: ticking under the hood, oil level fluctuations (to zero at idle/cold and constant fluctuations while driving). I replaced the oil pressure sensor so I knew it wasn't. I started work but didn't buy any parts until I checked for metal shavings in the oil pan and looked at the camshaft through the oil pan after removing…
