Mixed sand for sea or African cichlids

The sand ranges in size from ultra-fine dust to #3 coral sand. By sieving it through a kitchen strainer, you can get sand fine enough to use in a vortex sand filter, or not filter it at all and use it as a sand filter use deep bed sand.

Pros
  • Premium pure aragonite substrate (spherical or egg shape) Pure aragonite for all types of reef and saltwater aquariums
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

The substrate arrived wet which is fine as it is not a living substrate but it specifically states that it must be dry. There was cat and dog food in the box it came in. I don't know if this applies to all bags of substrate but the one that was sent to me contained 1-2 pounds of crushed coral in the substrate suggesting uneven grain size as indicated in that substrate. However, after some effort and careful sieving of the substrate when cleaning, the substrate is now a uniformly sized oolitic…

I've come to the conclusion that I like sand (hence 2 stars). After a lot of work has been done to make it fit. I love Seachem products but they just don't live up to the quality. Don't buy this one. Seachem advertises it as "fairly a consistent size". The oolite itself is there but mixed with so much crushed coral, shells, pieces of driftwood, literally trash (plastic pollution), it's just false advertising. I spent several hours (5+) sifting the whole bag through the mesh to separate…
