MG Chemicals Desoldering Braid Length Welding & Soldering Review

This solder wick is much nicer than the cheaper solder wick you can buy on ebay. The weave is much thinner and the flow in the wick is much better. I would say it's a great wick but it costs more. If you don't mind the extra cost over a cheaper wick I would buy this product. If you want to use a cheaper wick, consider using a flux pen or flux to help melt the solder.

This soldering braid works very well! Almost 1/4 of the way through the coil and had no problems. The cheapest solder braid isn't as tight as this and can fray at times if you use it with a big tip iron, but I've had no problems with it. Little by little, I started buying more and more MG Chemicals products, because their quality does not leave me indifferent. I will definitely come back to buy more when I run out.

I had to desolder over 60 pins from a PCB and took advice on using a wick instead of a vacuum pump. I've spent more on a good brand but I'm terribly unimpressed. In short, buy nameless junk for a tenth of the price. Add some flux and go far ahead. It works but the absorbency is way worse than I expected.
