I specifically chose this model for its compact, heavy base and low price. I've owned many mic stands over the years, mostly in tripod form. This is a great stand for $30 or so. Quality control sucks. If you are looking for a unit that can be built once and never fall apart again, this is perfect for you. The threads on the shaft to the base are both VERY rough. It took about 30 minutes to scrape the tread at the base with a utility knife and transfer the threaded end of the shaft to the spoked wheel to put it all together. . This microphone stand is perfect and 100% profitable. Why? Not only is it exactly "as advertised," it's also a traditional mic stand with a weighted (cast iron?) base that occupies a small footprint. That means you can place it where you need it and not have to deal with tripod-style quick-release legs. This is important if your microphone is heavy. I know it's not covered under warranty, but it's supposed to be a "professional" mic stand, so you might be thinking the clutch isn't minimal wears out use for the period i had it. The clutch was worn out and on February 25, 2018 I contacted service to see if I could replace or repair the clutch.
