The previous version was much better!

I have both this version and an older version of the Microsoft Surface Keyboard. The previous version was more problematic to connect (required a USB cable to set up Bluetooth), but used a rechargeable battery and an excellent fingerprint scanner (which was used to unlock the computer instead of a password). While I liked the old version, I despise the current "newer" version sold by Microsoft. It connects quickly via Bluetooth, but has a pretty annoying feature that can't be turned off. Energy

Pros

Cons
  • Legacy model

As with other 1 star reviews: Connectivity issues

1. Do you need a bluetooth keyboard?2. Want a keyboard that doesn't click?3. Do you think Microsoft's success with the Surface means that the "Surface Keyboard" is of good quality, especially given that it's expensive? This keyboard satisfies point 2 above. It can satisfy #1 depending on your needs. That's not enough. #3.For the background, I like keyboards that click, like the ones with CherryMX switches. So nice to print. However, it's not as comfortable for the other participants in the…

Picky but as good as I could find.

[Updated 10/23/18] The left Ctrl key doesn't work. I had to take the batteries out a couple of times last week and that fixed the situation. This week he simply refuses to work. Without ctrl to copy and paste this isn't productive enough. I'm considering playing with a Dell KM717. My rating has been changed from 4 stars to 2. [Updated August 13, 2018] I just stumbled across (on YouTube) a similar keyboard from Dell called the Dell KM717 and I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner. It has the same 3.5…

The best keyboard I've ever used to type. BUT

I ordered a Surface keyboard because I really like the keyboard on my Surface 2 laptop and it's very similar. Typing on this thing is absolutely perfect and it's my favorite keyboard I've ever used. I also like the form factor, the hotkeys are very useful and it looks good. BUT (and it's a deal breaker) is the Bluetooth connectivity. It may not be a keyboard error but an issue with the Surface laptop itself, but when I'm running a lot of different programs and the laptop has to work a little…

Excellent keyboard

Excellent keyboard. I'm using it right now to write this review. It has clear, clicky keys and a durable magnesium alloy body. There are Windows-specific keys like Search, Settings, and Calculator that I use a lot more than I thought I would. :) Apart from the great build quality, Microsoft could still make a few small improvements. Mine had a slight crease when I took it out of the box so I twisted it a bit and it lay flat on the table (my table is very flat so it's not my table). Bluetooth…

Once great, now junk.

I bought this keyboard on 9/5/2017. It had an annoying habit of turning itself off after a long period of inactivity, but it reliably turned on when I pressed the button (although I'd set it in Device Manager to never turn off). Now it turns off after about 15 seconds and is extremely unreliable when turning it back on. Sometimes my computer freezes for about 15 seconds before deciding to do so. The keys sometimes get stuck when it freezes, although the keys aren't physically sticky. I really…

Great keyboard! good for keyboards

I work all day on documents, presentations, spreadsheets, etc. and so far I haven't found a keyboard that can handle my workload. And it's not because I haven't tried, I've tried many keyboards but none passed the test. I was thrilled when I discovered the Surface Keyboard - the keys feel so natural to my fingers and their fluidity makes typing a pleasure. To make things even better, it connects to the PC via Bluetooth, so there are no cables cluttering my desk. The Bluetooth connection used to

I like electronics

The keys are comfortable and quiet. Typing is not a rigorous exercise for my finger muscles. The keys are a little harder to press than on the keyboard on my Samsung laptop that I bought six years ago. This was disappointing at first, but I found that once I plugged it into my computer and started concentrating on my work, the keyboard didn't get in the way at all. One thing I really didn't like was the loud spacebar. Even though I tried hard enough, the spacebar made a loud pop. I checked and…
