Miele Vacuum Cleaner SF HA30 MIE1003 Review

I really like using this original Miele HEPA filter with my Miele vacuum cleaner. The price was great compared to the price elsewhere. With pets and people with allergies, this filter affects the cleanliness and quality of the air in our home.

I have a very sensitive sense of smell. When vacuuming with the built-in filter, I noticed a noticeable improvement. It has replaced the charcoal I've been using for years. And it provides a measure of peace of mind here in California, where the sky has been smoke-filled for weeks.

The first of these HEPA filters I bought for my Miele vacuum gave a clear indication of when it needed replacing. Neither of the next two (this is my third) did. I was seriously wondering if I had the right filter, especially since the grille that goes over it doesn't close completely with the filter in place. But I looked it up in my manual and it's the right filter.

After installing this filter which worked with the previous HEPA filter which was 8 months old, I smelled of dust as soon as I started the vacuum. I put the old filter in and the smell is gone. Went back to a new filter, dusty smell is back. I'm not sure what's wrong with this filter, but either it's not HEPA (fake?) or it's a sealing issue. Won't be buying from Revain again.

My Miele vacuum cleaner is over 30 years old but this filter keeps the exhaust clean. Be sure to turn on the replacement indicator when installing a new one; it predicts fairly accurately when a new filter will be needed. Older vacuums like mine may require more frequent filter changes due to dust buildup in the motor. When the exhaust starts to smell like dust, then it's time. I replaced the original filter that came with my Miele S7 with this one. I noticed that it looks different - there is no gray felt layer on one side. After a few weeks I noticed a strong smell when using it, and then I realized that the factory filter must be the carbon version, ie the SF AA 30 version, this is the hepa version without activated carbon SF HA 30. I have dogs and allergies (I know, I know) so I'm all HEPA. Dogs stay reasonably clean, but this filter seems to store and multiply the smell. So after about 2.5 months it's like inhaling dog hair. :( I like my Miele vacuum but it blows out the stinky dog smell after the filter is less than two months old. I replaced the exhaust filter on my "Classic C1" model with a Miele HEPA SF-HA30 filter which I had to order separately as it is not included is Classic C1. Vacuum. Had to look up YouTube videos because the documentation isn't great for this HEPA setup. You must completely remove the black plastic honeycomb and the soft microfilter "Air Clean" (do not use a double filter, use Air Clean or HEPA - not both).
