Description of MikroTik FiberBox Outdoor Router Ports

MikroTik FiberBox Outdoor Switch with 5-Ports SFP - Includes 1 S-RJ01 Copper Module (CRS105-5S-FB). The Fiberbox is ideal for locations where distance is restricting the use of regular ethernet cables. The device is weatherproof and comes with a hose clamp and zip ties, ready to be installed on high masts and towers. The package also includes the RJ45 SFP (S-RJ01) copper module already preinstalled in the first port, so you can use ethernet in one of the ports already out of the box. If not needed, remove it to have access to all five SFP ports for using with 1.25 Gbit fiber modules.

Low bandwidth is good for routers

I have a 1GIG fiber internet connection connected to Mikrotik Fiberbox. When connected to any of the SFP ports, I only get 140MB of bandwidth. I connect my internet channel directly to the computer and get 980 MB. This is the case when Fiberbox is running in bridge mode. If I try this in router mode, I only get 30MB. I think it's a nice little setup and would be perfect for my needs, but I can't sacrifice that loss of speed.

Pros
  • The kit also includes an RJ45 SFP copper module (S-RJ01) already preinstalled in the first port, so you can start using Ethernet in one of the ports right away.
