Abranet is the best

Mirka Abranet is without a doubt the best "sandpaper". Whether on my CEROS or a manual lathe, this tool works amazingly well. It does not clog as easily as other competing products and heat build-up is kept to a minimum.

Pros
  • 180 grit for fast material removal and a great finish
Cons
  • So far so good

Takes sanding to the next level

Mesh Discs give a great finish. A number of similar Sungold drives (see my other reviews) work just as well I think. You'll come up with Abranet or Sungold products Buying a box of 50 is the most economical.

Pros
  • 5" Material Removal and Finishing Disc
Cons
  • Protection

3 strikes and you're out!

This review is not about sandpaper. Mirka sandpaper is what you need, especially Arbanet. My 1 star rating is based on the distribution of this product. I have ordered 180 grit 3 times in a row only to receive a 220 grit in a box that says 220 grit but with a 180 grit sticker over the 220 grit sticker.

Pros
  • 50 discs per box
Cons
  • Some Cons

The dust collection is incredible.

Because you use the entire disc to grind and don't have a dust hole pattern and the entire disc is mesh I get much better results and consistency, especially with higher croup. However, dust pickup is excellent across the line. I use a Festool vacuum cleaner with a 5" Mirka Ceros and am very satisfied.

Pros
  • Hook and eye design makes it easy to attach and remove grinders
Cons
  • Working speed

Mirka Abranet for fibre-based abrasives

Abranet will definitely last longer than traditional random orbital sanding discs. This is the only grinding wheel I currently use. For those of you who are wondering or curious: I bought a large Autonet box for comparison. My observations: Use Abranet for wood sanding. Autonet doesn't last that long in a tree. In addition, you need to connect a dust collector to get the full benefits of Abranet, otherwise grinding dust will be everywhere like any other grinding wheel.

Pros
  • The mesh structure allows dust to pass directly through the abrasive and prevents clogging
Cons
  • Almost everything is in order
