Four-way measurement capability for outside dimension (OD), inside dimension (ID), depth, and step measurements. Raised sliding surfaces to help prevent defacement and wear of scale graduations. Modest, 14-degree face angle on vernier scale, to help improve visibility and reduce the possibility of parallax errors. Meets Federal Accuracy Specifications GGG-C-111B.

The secret ingredient is love.

I'm an idiot and I value mechanical precision, so you don't have to worry about what a $60 ruler essentially is like I do. However, when you hold it in your hands, you can tell immediately that someone has put a lot of thought and care into this design. This is solid rock. Doesn't rattle, doesn't wobble, doesn't give in. Mitutoyo 530-531-532 series calipers are perfection, a tool that inspires you to work better. I have owned this Verneir caliber for almost a year and a half. The device is quite accurate. I must add that the caliber is fairly easy to read and reliable in operation. After use and washing with oil and smearing with soap and water the caliber started to rust which is unusual for a Mitutoyo product even for a caliber at this price point as the cheaper ones didn't have this problem.
