Only suitable for thin wire.

I used closed and 14g wire. They were a nightmare for me to connect cables to them. There is too much wire for the middle section to slide and then you wouldn't be able to screw it all the way down. I managed to connect about half of it but I don't dare pull the wire. I've used banana clips before, but these were terrible. I usually like all of their products but I hate this one.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Very poor design in audio and video accessories

VERY poor design. They will not accept the 12 gauge wire that I use for the Definitive Technology 50ft outdoor speaker washer. They accept 14 gauge wire, but the design is still so poor that there doesn't seem to be a way to make enough contact with the copper wire to feel comfortable connecting. A bare wire connection would be much better. I have used Sewell banana plugs successfully and will order again, not these.

  • Availability
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

I bought this a few weeks ago and just got around to installing it. Each connector consists of three parts: the main shaft, an insert that surrounds the wire, and another part with a small thread and a real banana connection. I inserted an image. Short version of why I don't like them: You have to insert the wire into the first part (the part in the picture with the red washer), then spread the strands of wire and then screw it into the main barrel. With a strong wire (mine is 12G) this is…

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Not as thick as other master keys

You do the work.

I've avoided this review for a long time because honestly I had nothing to say about it except them. Work! But after living with them for a while, I learned about them. They have a lot of unnecessary moving parts in my opinion, a front end, a plug that fits into things, why screw it on? That's the most annoying thing. It's not that bad, you can just screw it down, but the cables are just more likely to come loose, IMO. They were also a little tricky to deal with (considering this is my first…

Monoprice Banana Plugs - Closed Screw - Great Price

These Monoprice Banana Plugs (closed screw, gold plated) are pretty good banana plugs for the price. Looks Great: Fully gold plated, thinner than others (but longer). Not all mandatory items are created equal, so they may be a better match or not at all (rarely). Doesn't go well with my Micca MB42X speakers but they work fine (although easy to pull out). Oddly, they match my Micca OriGain amp stands perfectly. Instructions: Strip the wire about 3/4 inch. Unscrew the bottom of the banana plug…

Pros
  • Positive Only
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance
