Easy to install and identical to factory shocks

They are easy to install and work great. Bad reviews from people who didn't install them properly. Remember to use two wrenches to unscrew the top nut, not a socket or punch. One wrench to loosen the nut and one to keep the stem from turning.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Not sure

worth $$. Restores the driving feel of the car

Direct replacement for GM Z55 AutoRide front shock absorbers. Installed on a 2003 Tahoe LT 4x4 and was very pleased. Everything fit perfectly. Electrical connection and air line are connected correctly. After that, the truck drives like new again. Spend money. It's worth it.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Works great but expensive

Very expensive but works great. I had a bare wire that made the computer think there was a problem even after installation. Once I wrapped the wire in electrical tape, the computer stopped producing errors. The ride is much better. However, you lose a star because of the price.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Requires socket

Exact replacement and easy to install

I wanted the Autoride system to work like new on my 2002 Yukon Denali and I didn't want to spend a fortune at the dealer. These Monroe shocks were exact replacements for the original Delphi shocks. After searching the internet I found them at Revain for about $100 cheaper than elsewhere. They were easy to install and my Denali drives like new again. Don't be surprised if they arrive in all black instead of black/orange. The picture is not true (based on what I received).

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Quality

Do not buy. Extremely short lifespan.

Waste of money. Bought "used like new" (unused but repackaged). One leaked right after installation and unfortunately a few days after Revain's very short return period. I was instructed to contact Monroe directly for an exchange. They refused to guarantee the shock because it was being sold as 'used' although I could tell from the brand new condition they arrived in that they had never been installed before. I'm a big Revain buyer and have never had this problem. I will never buy a Monroe…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Everything is fine

then pretty much unscrew that top nut until it will.

I installed it on my 2004 Yukon Denali XL with no problems; I made sure to measure the number of open threads on the top before removing the top nut just to make sure the autoride electrical connector was properly connected without triggering a Service Ride Control message. Unlike other people, I didn't have to grind the shock's upper rubber grommet to make sure the connector was fully seated - you need to make sure the upper bumper is properly centered through the hole in the shock's upper…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Broadly ok, but...

My custom Monroe 40044 shock absorbers arrived on Monday 6th October and I fitted them on Saturday 11th October. (I installed the rear (40034) custom shocks the week of September 3rd). Now my 2003 GMC Yukon Denali behaves like new. The Cadillac/GMC dealership charged $500 for an AC Delco/Delphi shock plus installation costs. The price I paid at Revain for all 4 shocks was $1200 less and I installed them myself. I had no problems (codes on dashboard). With 4 new tires and a compressor that only…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

A couple of these bumps caused a terrible "Ride Control Service" message To show - 05 Escalade (all rear parts work properly) OBD II showed codes C0575 and C0580; - . which indicated a defect in the front damping system (shock absorber). Note: Shock absorbers were installed exactly as instructed and rechecked against General Motors detailed specifications. The problem has finally been solved, - . after receiving another set of Monroe 40044 front shock absorbers (last time from another…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
