Perfect fit for 2007 Mercury Mountaineer 4.6L

This is a perfect replacement for my '07 Mercury Mountaineer 4.6L V8. It's Motorcraft and works great! At first I bought cheap fakes to save money but I quickly realized this was a mistake as after 50 miles the fakes started to fail. I should have known better. I then replaced the kit with these and it immediately fixed my misfire problem due to coil failure. Great coils, perfect fit, worth every penny.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen

I have an Expedition 05 at 118k that starts to shake/rock at around 45-50 mph and then gradually decreases so it happens at low revs in all gears and on any grade. I ordered 8 of these and they are Motorcraft parts so you pay for what you get. Don't buy cheap Chinese stuff. Installation takes a little time, but it's worth it. Now runs like a scalded cat, accelerating so smoothly at all speeds.

1 in 8 died in just a week.

First and to most, the product looks identical to my original factory products. But the packaging is very questionable. It comes in bubble wrap, not OEM packaging. Also, all my original coils have a blue mark/dot, but this one doesn't. Okay so I bought 8 of these and 1 week later. Number 7 misfires. If you decide to go with them. I would buy 9 for a spare. I haven't found a set on Revain that will last. I'm almost ready to break down and give the dealer $700 for real real ones. You pay for what

Perfect fit and condition

My Lincoln Navigator ignition coil was replaced in under 10 minutes and I'm not a skilled mechanic at all. It was my first time, just saw the video on youtube. You need to unscrew a screw and turn off an electrical switch. In my home country (Uruguay) mechanic service called about $500 to buy and replace a replacement ignition coil. Insane! The fault was caused by a leaking T-joint in the heater hose causing antifreeze to get onto the ignition coil, which seems to be a very common problem on…

Okay, but beware of fakes!

I'm writing this review thanks to CrimZon who pointed this out earlier. I bought 6 of these knowing there might be fakes out there and in fact one of the 6 I bought was a fake. See attached photos. Both reels came from the same listing, same order and same Motorcraft packaging. But I checked the coils before I started tuning and indeed the CrimZon was spot on for the money. There was a fake under the coils, which of course can only be determined after opening the packaging. I immediately…

Beware of fakes!

There are many small dealers that sell these reels which are generic copies. They come in motorcraft bags and are difficult to tell apart. The only reliable way I've found is to look at the FoMoCo logo on the mounting ear. It should be clean and crispy. The fakes I received were dirty like they were part of a mold while the real ones are very clean (I think they are laser cut). Motorcraft parts also usually have part marks as part of their quality control (I had the marks on the electrical…

These are factory OEM coils. the best.

These are factory OEM coils. Don't buy cheap clones that come in multipacks of 8. Also, don't buy high-performance "racing" models from OEMs. These are the only ones that will last, as evidenced by hundreds of posts on F-150 message boards. Mine came in a factory sealed plastic bag. If it doesn't come in a sealed motorcycle plastic bag, it could be a fake. Don't repeat my mistake and don't buy cheap eight packs the cheap way. They will end up replacing all of them one by one as they fail within
