I rounded the top of the hill only to find a steep hairpin turn down with tons of gravel on the sides. In jeans I wear 32-33 waist and 30-32 length. I originally had the medium and it fit well. (I use them as top pants). I think it depends on your fit. I have a cb500F and with my knees bent so much I felt the pants were riding up exposing my ankles too much. As advertised these pants are suitable for riding, not top pants. They fit well as pants, but also fit one size larger as top pants. The zipper only goes to the knee, which makes getting dressed slower, but as pants (you don't wear shoes over jeans, do you?) it's fine. I would not put my shoes through my pants when putting them on or taking them off. The waist falls high to the navel or slightly higher. The oversized pocket makes the knee pads appear too low when walking, but they fit perfectly
