Great device!

I use this in a club (I'm a DJ) it's really loud and clear! Really good durable quality. If you plan to use the walkie-talkie outside in the rain or snow, I recommend getting one without an LCD screen.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • weak

Not what was ordered

Ordered new walkie-talkie but received used - and only one walkie-talkie and clip. Without charging cable, base station and user manual. We hope this gets fixed soon! This was very upsetting for our son who saved money for this radio and then didn't get what he wanted.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Secret

Great product - don't order if not for business use

I ordered this product as an emergency for our family Unfortunately after Lots of calls to Motorola and the FCC saying FCC that this radio may only be used with a business license and for commercial purposes. This means it cannot be used for personal purposes (even if you work for a company). The FCC also found that the information in Motorola's manual regarding licensing was incorrect: you cannot apply for a license directly, you must work through an aggregator to acquire a license.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine

As far as radios go, these are the best

While I'm not a fan of carrying a radio, I had to order a bunch (30) for the staff, myself included. These radios work great in a big, heavy, brick and steel high school that's beating cell phone reception attempts. Versatile and intuitive frequency/channel/group selection and easy cloning are some of the great features of these radios. After a full day of use, I've only lost a battery bar at the end of the day, and these Motorola radios are solidly built, so I know they're durable enough forโ€ฆ

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Great reliable radio - what you've come to expect from Mot

This radio has the reliable quality you've come to expect from Motorola Business Radio - with more flexibility at the user level than Mot has offered in the past. I ordered a walkie-talkie with GMRS and amateur frequencies programmed in. With the FREE software from the Motorola website, I can choose which 16 out of 99 frequencies I want to use, I can change the CTCSS codes and save different configurations. Because it can be programmed to work with repeaters, it is ideal for ham radio and GMRSโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Portable audio and video
Cons
  • Big and bulky

It's amazing how the GMRS radio is. It actually has 16 channels.

This is a great radio for GMRS. All you have to do is contact Motorola and send them your frequency list and your license and they will send you the plugin code. Buy a programming cable and download the free software from their website. You can set up this radio to use GMRS repeaters. Once you've loaded the radio with your frequencies, you can change the PL codes on the front radio like a bubble pack radio, allowing you to use different repeaters with the same frequency pair. Or you can just do

Pros
  • CB and Talkback Radios
Cons
  • Doubtful
