OK picture quality is good, and the up-scaling happens without noticeable lag/delay, works with the GameCube and Dreamcast systems, which was the main reason for buying this. But the idiots that made it put a male end on the s-video, and so it is useless without a female to female adapter.

I don't get why these manufacturers of these converters don't do direct 480i to 480p and 576i to 576p conversion. If I am not mistaken, HDMI supports interlaced versions of these resolutions as well.Most HDTVs can size 720x480 to be 4:3 or 16:9.However very few HDTVs can size 1280x720 and 1920x1080, which are this converter's only output options, to be 4:3.This also doesn't do any HD 4:3 resolution like 1280x960.So if you want to watch 4:3 content, which most stuff was distriubted as in the…

I purchase this to view my on screen menu from my Harmon Kardon receiver onto my TV, which doesn't have S-Video. It does that job okay for me, at least where I can struggle and see the menus okay. However if you're purchasing this to view movies? You may want to look for an alternative. I've tried both settings and neither improved the picture. I never had this issue when I used to connect S-video between old TV and Receiver.I'll update if something improves - or - not.

I used this product to route my Blu-ray thrrough my stereo receiver and the signal was slightly blury. When I connected my Blu-ray directly to my flat screen high definition television, the signal was clear.

Stay away from this product, I bought it because it wasn't the cheapest. But it only lasted 2 days. Not worth my time returning it. Just buyer beware.

Bought this product thinking it would improve the video / audio when burning DVD's.It will NOT help for the input going to DVD but does make a difference when playing back.Realize I'm more in the dark ages (burning dvd's) and most people only play dvd's.Still a good value for the $

Works perfectly. Been using for my N64 and Wii for a while. It's definitely better than the 'mini' converter.Up-scaling looks fine, but does introduce very minor artifacts. Could use anti-aliasing, but good luck finding that in a $21 unit.

This worked the 1st time I tried it. Unfortunately, I didn't try again until the return window closed. Don't buy if you're intending to use it more than one time.

This works as it should. I did not realize that you have to plug it in which is kind of a pain but that is on me. There is just no high quality way to convert an AV connection to HDMI unless you have a really high end home theater receiver.

I used this to hook a knock-off Super Nintendo up to my TV with no composite input. The picture quality of the Super Nintendo isn't anything like good enough to judge the quality of this product, but it works great for my needs.

this works really well for our Wii. our smart tv only had hdmi ports and this adapter is perfect. would order again. was easy to install

The adapter works very well with an old Sega Genesis and a new TV, my only complaint is that there was no power cord in the package with the adapter. Kind of annoying but it a micro USB, and I have plenty of those laying around the house

I have an old DVD player with Left/Right Audio RCA output and Video RCA output, along with S-Video output. I wanted to hook the DVD player to my multi-HDMI auto-switch. This adapter installed really easy (5 mins) and worked right away. The switch on the side for 720/1080 only works for 720 to me. My TV indicates unsupported or no signal when flipped to 1080. I'm capturing home video via an old S-VHS deck and it seems to give me good S-VHS video conversion to HDMI which I then capture to my Mac using Quicktime. I see a bit of overscan artifacts at bottom few lines of video, but that could easily be my 30yo deck (but gives the captured video that old-timey look LOL) or stuff they used to add to analog video years ago that should have been captured because it was there. I kinda hoped you'd be able to plug all four parts of my N64 s-video cable into this and then start playing, but nah, I asked for too much apparently. The yellow one is the converter, the black one is my N64 cable, they're the same. (see picture)I did manage to get it to show the game on my 4k TV but just barely. The device does it claims to. No problem installing. Good finish, clean connections.That said when you have to convert from HDMI to audio/video RCA you are already going backward at least 15 years. Your old video display that was looking very good long ago is not going to look good, in fact you will hate it. Point is this device is really obsolete and one should not need it for anything really worth watching!

The device supposes to work with old staff like analog camcorders and VCRs. I was not able to make 4:3 works on Sony KDL-55HX800, but it works on more new Sony XBR-85X900H - so 4 stars because of this issue.My guess, that the converter genrates 16:9 signal despite of incoming signal aspect ration. So, if your TV is able to show 16:9 signal as 4:3, you can purchase it.

Needed to use this cable / converter to connect an S Video output port on my Audio Receiver to an HDMI port on a new TV. This is to setup surround sound configuration on the receiver. It works as described, totally satisfied.

Using this for old legacy/vintage video game systems. Svideo/composite to hdmi. 720p and normal mode on tv (had to manually change set up on flat screen) works better than expected. Love tube tv’s but take up too much space. Would recommend.

I bought this to stream S-video into an HDMI feed. This unit requires AC power but works perfectly, I was running up to 50 FPS through an ultrasound machine into OBS and it worked no problem. The device is also nice looking and so far appears sturdy.
