🔪 Naniwa Super Whetstone Knife Sharpening Stone Review

I've worn that thing out! I haven't sharpened on stones in many years but decided to start again because my restaurant doesn't have a sharpening service and my friend didn't sharpen it. First to practice on household knives and later on blunt work knives. In my opinion a very simple stone to start with.

This is the original Super Stone. It's thinner, which makes it more accessible. It would take many knives to sharpen or smoothen very often to wear them down. By using a good Nagura stone and cleaning it after each use and only smoothing it when necessary, longevity can be achieved. Having it attached to the base reduces the likelihood of cracks from falling etc. Only one (I think?) Naniwa Super Stone is coarser, 220 grit. Beautiful stone. Produces small clay-like shavings that help prevent excessive burring (good). You'll need to rub it down a bit, so make sure you have a cleaning block or brush handy. If you are a beginner like me I would not use this for practice as it is difficult to form a raised ridge for educational purposes.
