Lightweight & Durable: Only 1.52lb (0.69kg) in weight, this lightweight boom is easy to hold for capturing sound sources from one place to another. Aluminum alloy material is resistant to corrosion and humidity for outdoor recording. Adjustable Length & Secure Locks: The three-section boom can be adjusted from 3.1’ (0.94m) to 8.1' (2.5m) as needed and the twist-and-lock mechanism ensures quick and secure locks between each section. Comfortable Grips: Soft foam grips make the boom comfortable to hold and prevent it from sliding during mobile recording. Universal Compatibility: The 1/4” to 3/8” screw allows direct mounting with a wide variety of shock mounts, mic clips, and microphones.

Feels solid and comes with attachments

Just wanted to clarify if you need to purchase additional parts to use this rod as another reviewer suggested. Mine arrived yesterday with a 3/8" male end firmly attached to the post and a 1/4" adapter. You can see my mic is screwed into the 3/8" jack. The bar seems very strong and quite long. I think 8ft and folds to about 3ft. I teach kids how to make movies , so time will tell how it will be Wait until I'm very impressed.

Sometimes it's the little things that separate a normal product from a great product

Overall the build quality seems good for the price. The telescopic mechanism works quite well. Including Velcro straps for attaching the microphone cable. My main issue with this is a small detail that seems tiny but is actually a major annoyance, especially if you don't have the resources to fix it yourself. Mounting adapters 1/4 and 3/8 and a 5/8 inch barrel that screws onto a 3/8 adapter if you have a 5/8 mount. Like all things where the thread goes into the thread, they never unscrew you…

Wow. It's a lot better than I expected

I recently got my hands on a Rode Gun Mic and while a pendant mount on my camera will suffice for most projects I do, there are opportunities (e.g. field records, short stories) where the Boom will be really useful.
