SSD not recognized

Didn't work for me. MBP did not recognize or see SSD and enclosure even though MBP has 4 USB-C ports. Both SSD and MBP worked in a normal case without USB-C. Tech support responded and found that the case was faulty. Update 8/24/18: Nekteck customer support contacted me and sent me a replacement. This device worked, but not immediately. Several minutes passed before the MBP recognized the device. I also tried this on another old MBP with a USB 2.0 dongle adapter and there were also some…

Works with 2018 Mac Mini

I decided to upgrade my 2011 Mac mini to a new one and then my old SSD died. But luckily, once you bought a Revain SSD, they gave it a 5-year warranty and replaced it with a larger-capacity SSD for free. I decided to turn that extra SSD into an external drive. This case received good reviews. It took me longer to remove the protective plastic film from this thing than it did to install the SSD. Slide the top open, align the connectors and replace the top. Format the new drive and that's it. I…

Nice body but fingerprint magnet.

I have some old laptop hard drives and SSDs and was looking for a way to make them more useful as external drives and backup drives. I liked the fact that this case was USB-C as it was more convenient for more of my modern devices that now have these type of connectors and also used with older USB-A connectors with a different cable be able. Very bright blue power supply and red R/W LEDs on the back/bottom of the case are good. I also like the transparent case so I can see at a glance which…

Just like on the market

EDIT: READ BELOW While it looks good (and even comes with a free USC-C cable), the read/write speeds of this case aren't as advertised. In the ATTO Disk benchmark with a 500 GB Samsung 850 Evo connected to a Thunderbolt 3 port with the new Anker USB-C cable, the maximum read speed was around 44 MB/s and the write speed was around 41 MB/s . Both numbers are a far cry from the 500+ MB/s the drive can achieve. The story remains the same when ATTO was launched over USB 3.0. BEGIN EDIT: After…

GREAT PERFORMANCE, VALUE AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT!

The speed of this external USB-C SATA enclosure was terrible at first. I got 38MB/s transferring video from my Dell 5510 workstation laptop with internal SSD. My external SSD is a Samsung 850 250GB SATA HDD. I assumed the problem was with the product because the price was cheap. I WAS WRONG! The guys at Nekteck were very helpful in locating the Thunderbolt 3 driver update needed for my Dell Precision 5510. I was a little confused as I already had the latest driver. I uninstalled the driver…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Can't remember

I bought this enclosure for a 2TB Western Digital Blue SSD that I bought at the same time. It took me a while to figure out how to remove the cover from the rest of the case, then insert the SSD, then close the cover and then connect the CC cable, one end to the case and the other to my Windows 10 PC-USB connection C. Very simple. I then had to tell Windows 10 to recognize the drive, which I did with a google search to see what steps to take. I like that there are both blue and red lights on…

Pros
  • Great choice
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Looks good but feels a bit cheap

I got this case because I thought a transparent case to see the disc in would be cool ie. the same reasons for the transparent side panels on the computer case. The light was a nice touch too, turning blue when plugged in and flashing red (producing purple) when data is being accessed. USB 3.1 Gen 2 (with Type-C connector) works great and the included cable connects securely to it. Transfer speeds are as expected: I inserted a 1TB Samsung Evo 860 drive and connected it to my computer's…
