Difficult installation, couldn't do what we needed

We're quite competent people but we couldn't display it in our garden in a way that gave us enough confidence to take it hiking. Maybe you can get it right, we couldn't.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Boring packaging

Grommets are not strong

12x12 bugout. On the second use, the area around the high eyelets ripped. The seams near the eyelets on both high corners are split. These are important areas to support this gullwing's crest. Maybe a smaller size with less wind load would be better, but stay away from 12x12 even in light winds.

great for camping in a hammock

This is amazing! a very versatile device. I love that you can use it with a hammock or just tie it to a tree for shade and bug-free fun. I also love that you can pin the sides of the bug net if you want. I wish it was a little smaller (probably too big for hiking), but it's enough for car camping or kayaking.

Great house for bugs! - Camping & Hiking

This screen/tarp definitely gets the job done! We brought it with us on a recent trip to the BWCA and it worked flawlessly. Given the weight gain, this is very acceptable, especially on a canoe trip. It was relatively easy to install and the connectors for using trekking poles are a very nice touch. In addition, the network is very dense, so it does not let the "invisible" through!

You get what you pay for

Excellent product. Lightweight and explosion-proof. used it on a family hike during 3 days of continuous rain; he did exactly what he had to do. It started to sag in the corners and then there was accumulation of water that had to be pushed from time to time. Although it was never leaked. I'm sure more Tension Guys would solve the problem

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Easy maintenance

Great tent, big and secure

Used at Racer State Park, Washington State. Even at this time of year (fall) there are a lot of bugs and it helped us stay dry and get rid of the bugs. Small gullies prevented a lot of water from running onto the screen. I would like the screens to be longer and more even length in all 4 corners. This is not intentional, making customization difficult. at the right height.

No errors in the BWCA

I love this tarp! Weighs only about 4 pounds which is perfect for border diving which he did last week. We could sit in our chairs behind the tarp's insect screen and play cards until there were no mosquitoes or biting flies at night. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the zippers really need to be bigger. They've worked well, but it seems they can become a point of failure at some point. However, this is a small catch. I really enjoyed camping. Simple furnishings, light and…

Check weatherproofing if you have time before your first camping trip.

The screen was easy to set up and made no mistakes. Just one problem, and it was an all-weather tarp - it didn't leak well. I should have checked it first but didn't have time. I contacted the seller and it was supposed to be a rain cover with a good rating. They offered to swap out the unit or cover the cost of a decent weatherproof product. I decided to buy impregnation and make it myself. It worked well, the product recommended was Nikwax sunscreen. Everything went smoothly and now I have a…

Very dry and good mosquito, I could improve it.

Worked better in some weather conditions and locations than others: The roof tarp worked well in the rain, didn't drip through the tarp, kept us and our gear dry. However, the bottom corners of the tarpaulins collected rainwater, which we used for cooking and drinking. What these collected water bags do in gusts of wind will be interesting for the beta test. During our rain, the insect screen prevented rain from entering the shelter, probably due to surface tension: the raindrops just stuck to…
