Couldn't get it to work

Never worked as expected. The windows driver program looked like it hadn't been updated since windows 98 or so. It was never possible to get it to work within Windows or as a shared network printer for non-Windows machines. I returned it and bought a D-Link DP-301+. and this device worked exactly as you would expect! Five stars for D-Link! Any computer in the house can print to it, and it has a web interface for customization. Very smart.

Easy to install, works great

As there were no reviews for the NetGear PS101 and reviews for other vendors' offerings were quite negative and pitfalls, I expected some trouble at launch. However, an hour after opening the box, the print server was up and running on 4 PCs, 3 running XP and 1 running Win/98. This is much faster than sharing the printer from a "server" PC and print quality is not compromised in any way. The documentation is fairly clear and complete, although a bit misleading as to which port to use due to the

Works well but not bi-directional

I'm disappointed with the Netgear PS101 for not being bi-directional. Low ink cartridges, out of paper, or other printer status features are not reported. My printer is Canon i550. Other than that, it works great and is very easy to set up. My Canon i550 also has a USB port. I set up a computer near the printer to use this port and it is bi-directional and gives feedback on the status of the printer. The printer seems to work well with both parallel and USB.

The failure rate is too high; NetGear will not replace

I have to say I was not impressed at all with this product. I originally bought it because of its size (it's relatively small) and the fact that I have an old parallel port laser printer (HP LaserJet 6P). My main issue with the product was its unreliability when completing a print job. . Whatever I send to the printer, there is about a 50% chance that I will actually see the result. This drops to around 10% to 20% when two or more jobs are sent at the same time (what's the use of a print server

Been through 3 of them. They kept burning out.

Passed 3 of them. They continued to burn after a month or two. I was able to save the third by unplugging it, except when I had to print. After all the kids graduated from high school, I didn't replace the last one and instead put money into a network printer.

Works perfectly. The best guides for beginners on the web.

Works great. More detailed instructions are required for beginners to connect the LPT1-HP LaserJet 4M Plus printer to a network with this mini server. I had to go to the Netgear website on the internet for more information. It worked great once I set it up properly. I'm a 60's generation newbie with extremely limited web experience. It worked.

HP Laserjet 1100A required me to purchase this product.

For some reason the HP Laserjet 1100A used a different, non-standard printer cable connector and didn't offer the standard type at all. From time to time, Windows updates or other drivers cause HP to malfunction. With this device I can connect my HP 1100A to a network and print from most computers. This device allows me to use the laserjet for a little longer, until finally I just get rid of it.
