Not your father's New Balance.

Comfort is good BUT. New Balance is no longer the same. I bought them 4 months ago and I've been waiting to write this story. I started wearing NB to run almost 50 years ago. They have always been very well made. Models sold now never hold the same load as the original and appear to be of lower quality. They're made in the USA, like everything in the 'old days', so I figured they might be better. You are not. I blame the design, not the people who make them. In the past, NB shoes with a slight…

I would not buy them again

I tried the 1340 v3 to see if they could be an acceptable replacement for a pair of 1540 v2's that I had worn through. They're about half the price of the 1540s, but still overpriced because of poor quality and comfort. There is no padding on the sides of the shoe so you can feel the stitching, they are heavy and none of the lace holes were punctured on the pair I received. Unfortunately I had to wear them until I ordered another style so I couldn't just return them.

Terrible road running shoes

These are the worst pair of New Balance I have ever owned. Don't buy if you have flat feet. I've been wearing them with pressure-relieving insoles since I bought them. Took them on family vacation this week and after a few hours of walking they had blisters on their arches. I had never had blisters on my arches before, they stopped hurting which made the next four days in the magic kingdom very painful. They will be thrown in the trash when I get home as I have long passed the return date.

too tight and painful

I bought and liked about 6 pairs of 1340 V2. It has always been comfortable to wear, right out of the box. I was disappointed that they updated to V3 but I gave them a chance. I ordered 12.5W (apparently they say W instead of 2E now, according to the website's new balance sheet, W and 2E are the same). They arrived and I put them on for a quick walk around the block with my dog. They hurt, immediately the sides crushed the outside of my leg, right next to the pinky toe. It still hurts 30…

Better than I expected.

I was a big fan of the 990's but couldn't find them for sale. I found them for $75. I'm a 9 1/2 D, but at New Balance I'm always at 10 so I can easily change insoles. 1340 are good and cozy. The first and only problem I have is that the grommets need to be reinforced. I pulled on the laces and broke one of the loops the first day I got them, but from day one they were the best shoes. They breathe well and feel great. The field from the heal to the ball of the foot feels great. It takes a lot of

I've tried and I've tried.

Since I have flat feet, I have to be very careful when choosing sports shoes. This one seemed like a good bet (given its significant midsole arch support), but I developed a huge blister on my left pinky toe after my first 5-mile run with it. I figured it needed to be taken apart and my legs to get used to it so I've been trying to incorporate it into my workouts for the past few months and it's still causing pain on the left side of my left leg. The pain also shows up when I wear them to buy…
