It's marketed as a wide shoe, but it's not. I had to send them back. I have wide feet and buy wide shoes in size. Very disappointing purchase

Pros
  • These boots are comfortable and offer great stability. I had very wide ones and they fit true to size.
Cons
  • People with wide feet may find it uncomfortable.

Comfortable best in my rating

These boots are comfortable and comfortable to wear. The only bad thing is other pairs have the sole cracking and peeling off the top of the boot. If they used a better quality glue it would solve this problem.

Pros
  • Excellent shoes, this is the third pair I have had, the last and good quality. I love New Balance because I have very wide feet.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people with foot conditions such as plantar fasciitis.

The best mid-cut trekking shoe.

My second pair of New Balance 978s. Just as comfortable and supportive as my first pair which I owned for ten years and eventually wore out.

Pros
  • Fits as expected. Works well.
Cons
  • May not provide adequate support for those with flat feet

but since it is VERY hard to find such shoes for narrow feet, I tried

to find such shoes for narrow feet, I tried. yes, too small Actually, the width is ok, maybe even a bit narrower, but the shoes are shorter than they should be. I can try to use it even if my fingers are touching as the closest size is 12 to 13. I know that the width is then too big. Very upset as the quality of the shoes is very good (hence 3 stars). Please New Balance rework this shoe to make it longer while maintaining the width.

Pros
  • ABZORB Cushioning Foam

Extremely disappointed

Bought these shoes to replace a previous pair - this pair was bought over 8 years ago and Reconditioned 8 years ago, 200 miles on the AT, had a rough life - decided it was time to get new ones. Bought this 3 months ago. As you can see, their heel is already falling off - and they haven't even been on a campaign yet! I've mostly used them in the garden mowing, weeding etc - pretty easy life compared to the last pair - SOAAAAAAAA disappointed! Time for a change - do not recommend it at all!

Pros
  • Built on an OL-1 last for hiking with a narrow heel, high instep, low toe and wide forefoot
Cons
  • Big and chunky
