skin or skin?

Just bought these 8.5 wide shoes. I plan to use them on my elliptical trainer. I think they will be great. I'm a little confused as to why the packaging doesn't say 100% leather anywhere. Leather is not mentioned anywhere. It seems strange to me that these shoes are supposed to be 100% leather and this is not stated on the shoe itself, nor on the box, nor on the packaging. I'm just wondering πŸ€” is it really leather or faux leather?

Worst New Balance I've ever bought

Hard to believe this is New Balance. Unlike my other NB shoes, these were extremely uncomfortable. Although I bought my regular NB size, they are too short, the toe box is too small and the 'skin' is very hard causing chafing on the ankle. To make matters worse, both shoes made an annoying squeak when I walked in. Definitely not the quality I expected from New Balance.

Great price, quality and durability!

I love these shoes! Very durable and will last for years! If you like walking, try these shoes! I have many hiking shoes but these shoes are second to none for price, quality and durability! The price is about half. The quality is excellent; I even feel comfortable wearing them with trousers at elegant events. (Keeps my toe issues under control.) The stamina is amazing! Some days I can walk over 14,000 steps or over 7 miles. However, the shoes lasted over a year!

Great casual shoe

The New Balance 577 has a narrow heel and wide toe with very good cushioning. This is great for those with toe problems like me. I've had these shoes for many years since the 576. Maybe someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the 577s have as hard a heel counter as most other models. I always wear them with OTC orthopedic insoles that provide arch support. I think these shoes wear out from the inside. Support seems to fade after about 6 months but I guess that's to be expected…

Great shoes! on Athletic

Possibly the best shoe available. Made from real leather in the USA It's about time Americans stop paying big bucks for cloth shoes made in China in appalling conditions by underage workers. The New Balance 577 shoes offer excellent arch support, plenty of toe room and durability. When shoes support the feet properly, the knees and hips are in line with the feet, preventing knee and hip pain from overworked muscles and ligaments. When the pain returns, it's time to buy new shoes. I'm 79 years…

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose
Cons
  • A few little things

I own a bakery and have been looking for a good concrete floor shoe for a while. I've spent a fortune on shoes and orthotics. I saw these shoes, read the reviews and ordered a pair ahead of the holidays, love them! They arrived quickly. I had no break-in period and was able to wear them all day without pain. They passed the extra test of helping me get through the busy Christmas baking season. I have now ordered a second pair (white). I would recommend this shoe to anyone who has already found…

My first hiking boot

I started working in a warehouse where I had to be on my feet 12 hours and walk more than 15 miles a day. After experiencing this, I decided to save my legs and calves from unnecessary suffering. I found that I have flat feet and wide feet and needed a hiking shoe that could accommodate my bones. I gave up and bought these shoes. I'm a bit tired of them being leather because I live in a humid place and my feet often get hot. However, it was never hot enough to make your feet sweat. The real…

Well-made shoe but not for my narrow feet

This is a well-made shoe that is comfortable for those who still find the wide width too narrow and whose feet swell or need thick orthotics because the shoes run much wider and lower in the toe area. I have a narrow AA foot with a narrow AAA heel and found the 2A is still much wider than it should be as the leather softens over time. 2A seems to be the standard narrowness for a 1A foot, or so I'm told. This doesn't make sense to me as the numeric designation 1A (default narrow) seems more…
