False advertising

I took a screenshot of how many shutters it has, the description says 3789. When I got the camera the exif data from the photo setter I made said the camera had 10,837 shutters , not 3,789. Generally speaking, if it's an entry-level camera then it's already 1/5 the shutter life, but this camera was rated "very good quality".

Great camera among DSLRs

Love this camera! I've been using it for about 7 months now. I wanted to get into photography a bit more and save some money for an older model. I bought it and paired it with a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8 lens. I love the photos I take with my camera! The camera is easy to learn and understand after a little practice. For this reason I prefer Nikon cameras over other models. The battery lasts long and charges quickly. All my expectations were justified. I take it everywhere when I want to…

Nice camera though. - Camera and photo

Excellent camera. It's a lot better than the Nikon d80 I have and it has pretty good video. I've already made a few short videos with music. Firstly, I didn't research it before buying it, so I didn't realize it wouldn't autofocus with my 50mm f1.8 lens. It's difficult to focus clearly in manual focus shots from a distance unless I press the zoom button, then focus when it's clear and then take the picture, but it's still difficult when the subject is moving . But then again, this will be an…

Great lightweight alternative to the D90 / D3000

If you're one of those people who lock their DSLR in a hotel room because it's too heavy, get the D5000. As a result, you'll have more shots and they will NEVER be worse than the D80/D90. If so, then you need to improve your technique :D I won't revise the specs ([.] already did, better than me). I just want to reconfirm what I said about high ISOs - just amazing! I recommend the DK-21M eyepiece magnifier as an indispensable accessory. Makes a normal pentamirror viewfinder much better. Be sure…

An effective compromise

D5000 for almost a year. I have taken several thousand pictures on a wide variety of subjects: landscape, family, sport, portrait, still life. I switched from film SLR cameras to compact digital cameras. It's a whole new world. It took me a while to get all the features and settings where I wanted them, but I've got the hang of it now. The D5000 is a compromise: it's a sensor from the D90 and a compact, digital-like user interface. This is right for me because I wanted better shots than the…

  • Brilliantly made

Review by a VERY amateur photographer

I'm not a fan of photography with any degree of regularity. Let's start with that. In the past, I've relied on headlamps and cell phones to capture the moment, so this giant leap into the world of DSLRs was, to say the least, a swim in uncharted waters. If you're looking for all that technical jargon and in-depth analysis of various features, I'm not here baby. I appreciate the efforts of knowledgeable people and their comments/reviews which really convinced me that this D5000 is the best value

Nikon D5000 vs Canon Rebel, in short.

If you're looking at this camera, I think you've done your homework and figured out that when it comes to a good DSLR on a budget your choice tends to come down to the D5000 or the Rebel. I came to that conclusion pretty quickly, but it wasn't an easy decision. On paper, Canon had the best specs for the price, but both cameras looked the same. There are many reviews comparing these cameras. Most are long, detailed, and come to the same conclusion - both cameras are good - don't help much in the
