I bought this after my Soundcraftsmen PE-2217R preamp broke after 38 years of heavy use. I first bought a used Kenwood Basic C2 preamp off eBay which worked but had many worn controls causing channels to drop out intermittently. He also hummed loudly between songs. Got this little preamp today, looks good and is well made. The problem is that this little thing crackles in the absence of a signal. I've connected it to my KRK V8s which on my NAD 1020 Series A are silent when the volume is turned down and when the volume is up, no barley whisper of signal.
