Description of NooElec NESDR Nano 3: Premium Tiny RTL-SDR with Aluminum Enclosure, 0.5PPM 📻 TCXO, SMA & MCX Input, and Custom Heatsink. RTL2832U & R820T2-Based Software Defined Radio

No more blocked USB ports! This RTL-SDR was designed into a tiny form factor to ensure proper fit within the smallest USB-compliant spacing. The Nano 3 is just 17mm x 8mm x 20mm & 15g!. The high-quality aluminum enclosure and silicone pads ensure that heat and stray EMI stay where they belong. The included articulating SMA connector allows for connection of both male SMA and male MCX antenna types without additional expenditures. The industry-leading 0.5PPM temperature-controlled crystal oscillator (TCXO) ensures that you will always be able to find the signal you need with absolute minimal drift and jitter. Proudly built in North America in our US & Canadian facilities. Full 2 year product warranty!

Worked fine for a little over a year. Then the puff died.

Worked well for just over a year. Then he died. This little key gets hot, I mean so hot you can't touch it. So I connected a 5V fan to help. I'm pretty sure he would have died much sooner if I hadn't cooled him down with an auxiliary fan. I bought a key from another manufacturer to replace this one. Well, let's see how long it lasts.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

This third generation of Miniature Software Defined Radios features high stability and broadband reception capability. When using for decoding car radios, please note the bandwidth of 2 MHz. Multiple can be used with free software such as Unitrunker and DSD-Plus. It heats up so there is a radiator. The small form factor allows you to connect multiple receivers to nearby USB ports, for example: Raspberry Pi.

Great little SDR good for computers and accessories

I have 3 SDR keys from NooElec. They all work great and as other reviews have said get very hot. It's just a feature of this type of circuit. These metal cased NooElec SDRs are much more durable than the cheaper plastic dongles that are made for watching DAB TV. Buy a quality antenna and you will get good results from this device. I use mine to decode LAPD traffic and listen to local ham radio repeaters. These dongles do not transmit RF or AM without additional hardware.

Really great product!

In my first review I mentioned that it's not as sensitive as my SDRplay RSPdx but this morning I connected it to my laptop and was amazed. I used this with an RTL1090 and a virtual radar and tracked 20-45 aircraft most of the day. Apparently there wasn't much air traffic before due to quarantine/accommodation orders. Now that everything is relaxed I can see everything from small planes doing exercises to large planes flying overhead. Great product for the way I wanted to use it! Try it now with

Break free from embedding your RTL-SDR experience

I've had a lot of RTL-SDR dongles over the years and these tiny ones are by far the best. I can actually swap out the old ones for these - ceteris paribus - and see the difference in terms of ADS-B and 433MHz pins. Virtually no PPM drift. So not only are they smaller; They are better. nits are common; They get untouchably hot and have unwanted MCX connectors. MCX connectors are the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. If you like MCX connectors then consider this product a Best in Class

Pros
  • This is great

  • A lot of stuff

died in seconds - Single Board Computers

Listen to the bad reviews on this dongle - I didn't have it and have now sent it back. While the concept is interesting, this button's size is overcome by the heat generated during operation - even with a heatsink. I have been using rtl-sdr keys for several years and have never had a crash. I thought this dongle has a good design, but it has flaws and cannot dissipate heat from its circuitry - even RTL-SDR dongles get hot when used, but apparently they have better heatsink design. I think I…

Great design, no extra space. Getting hot

I'm impressed by the tiny size and power of this device. Love the fact that they were designed to fit the Raspberry Pi's USB port dimensions so they're perfect even for 4 installed (not sure if that's possible due to power requirements though) although I know , that 2 are possible. The radiator shows you get 2 which would be nice as these puppies get hot with use. I found a way to dissipate even more heat by using a solid FLIRC aluminum case and running a piece of thermal pad/tape between the…
