Nordic Ware Microwave Bacon Defroster Review

Very difficult to clean by hand due to ridges, corners and crevices. I soaked it in Dawn liquid overnight. It is still problematic to clean it. I thought I could wash it in the dishwasher but the packaging clearly says it will be damaged if you use the dishwasher. However, she cooked the bacon perfectly, just a bear to peel.

I really like its shape but I've ordered it twice and each time it had broken corners. The corners were literally broken off, the parts were floating in the package. It looks like a good tray, but who knows when it will break. Should I try and order a THIRD time and hope it doesn't break? The manufacturer really needs to fix the packaging to avoid this problem.

I used it to cook my bacon in the microwave. I covered the bacon with kitchen paper to keep it from splattering. I boiled it and hand washed it and now I have a chip that wasn't there when it arrived. The coating was swollen, the beginning of a new crack in 2 more places. It doesn't seem to hold up well in the microwave and I wouldn't recommend this product. This was my first time using a baking sheet and the damage was already visible.

I was really excited about this but when it arrived I was disappointed. The tray was dirty and looked like it had already been used and returned. I ignored it and decided to wash it and give it a try. Bacon takes forever to cook! I bought it to save time but it did the opposite. It took more than 10 minutes to cook, and the end is not yet reached. Then I cooked a piece of bacon on a paper plate and it crisped up faster than on a tray. I do not recommend!

I like this plate. I remembered my mom had something similar when I was a kid, so I checked that out. We use pre-cooked microwaveable bacon. Why? I had something similar but it seems to suit the length of the bacon better. This particular tray is about 2 inches long, making it necessary to stack the bacon in a pile. The lid is bulky, especially when hot, and don't cook more than 4-5 as the grease tray fills enough to spill hot grease when removed from the microwave. I no longer use a lid, I just place paper towels on top of the bacon. The lid seems to lie sluggishly on the tray and is so delicate that you have to hold the tray yourself…

This particular part has replaced one I have had for over 40 years. It took so long to finally crack. I'm so glad I was able to find it. Now I can make a packet (usually 1lb) in under 20 minutes and it comes out perfect. The trick with the bacon is to cover it with 1 sheet of kitchen paper so it absorbs the fat and gets crispy. I use 1 row of double-ply paper towels on the bottom and 1 row of single-ply paper towels on top. You can't cook up an enteric pound in one go. I usually cook 6-8 slices

I had something similar growing up and wanted one for myself but the bowl and lid I bought was much smaller. I take responsibility if I didn't pay attention to the size, which is clearly stated in the description. I will not leave a bad review for my oversight. The baking sheet is 9.25 x 9.25 and the thick-cut bacon I use is 11 inches so you can make 1 strip diagonally or 2 strips if you cut it in half. For one person it would be good.
