Hit and Miss: Thermometer and Timer

So far I have to say it has worked well on my large pan but failed on my mini pan. I don't regret taking it, but for a denser batter, it doesn't seem to come out during cooking. Everything came out overcooked and dry the first time. From now on, I'll be watching the thickness of my test to see when it's really helping me.

Pros
  • Complete Set
Cons
  • Price that Beats the Piggy Bank

IS NOT RED - DON'T BELIEVE IT

Tip NEVER turned red. It turned blue so I left the cake and eventually stuck in the bamboo taster and I was done. Don't believe it. The cake popped out and was done. Also, it's metal and needs a rubber grip to pick up, as I did to stick it elsewhere on the cake. As a metal, it is hot. I come back

Pros
  • Very good quality
Cons
  • Will write later

I bake cakes all the time and my biggest fear is that the cake will look finished on the outside and undercooked in the middle. I used it for my cakes last Christmas. And it worked wonderfully. I wish I had known about this product years ago. That might save me the trouble of throwing out some half-eaten cakes.

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • A few minor things

Worked well for me for kitchenware and gadgets

Worked well. The tip should be inspected very carefully before use as it is "a bit red" before sticking it into your baked goods. I look for a bright red tip after insertion, and if I'm not sure if it's changed, I run the tip under cold water for a moment. When the tip darkened it was actually bright red and I believe the item is baked. I use it for my Nordic Ware banana bread pans. For the first time in a long time I didn't light my bread.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Long wait

Didn't work as expected

I've been baking cakes for many years and I usually use a long wooden skewer to check. However, I thought it would be a good idea since it would be easier for me to wash it and I could use it over and over again. To make sure this works I did a skewer test before using this thermometer. When the skewer indicated the cake was ready, I checked the thermometer. I used it as directed but the tip did not turn red. I tried it a week later with the same result. Obviously not happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • Great selection

  • So so

useful and easy to use for baking

I received this kitchen utensil as a gift and wasn't sure I would use it often but turns out I use it for baking all the time. Place in the center of your baked product and leave for no more than three counts for reliable results. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that the black elastic heat-sensitive material on the tip is unfortunately not very durable. It's too easy to accidentally scratch it off with your fingernail, which I did twice! (See photo. One on the right is scratched. On…

  • Great design

Bundt Cake Perfection

I have an old oven (1958) and I used to buy a thermometer which I keep in the oven to properly measure the temperature in the oven as the sensor is on the front of the oven is unreliable. But that only solved the problem of the internal temperature of the oven. Adding cake to the mix (no pun intended) made things even more complicated; With a very large ring cake, how could I tell when it was made indoors? The Nordic Ware Bundt Cake Thermometer was the complete answer for my cakes. The first…
