🍳 Norpro Mushroom Egg Slicer: Versatile Cutting Tool for Perfectly Sliced Eggs & Mushrooms, Multicolor One Size Review

I actually bought this for the eggs as I was tired of breaking wires on these cheap things. It has blades, is much stronger, and cuts very well. Larger mushrooms (like Costco's) will need to trim the stems a bit, but this is better than chopping the entire batch by hand. It meets and exceeds my expectations. If it grows legs and leaves when my kids arrive (you know what I mean, wink, wink), I'd buy another one.

I was dying to try this with mushrooms as I bake and sauté them in a lot of dishes. Unfortunately, the fresh mushrooms I bought the night before offered a lot of resistance to the blades and I had to use more force than was necessary to cut them. The mushrooms were crushed before the blades could actually cut through the mushrooms. Gave up after trying to chop 5 mushrooms. I haven't tried strawberries or eggs yet, which I think works better with this slicer.

This was accidentally put in the dishwasher and looked like it had been burned. Blackened, dirty and something like soot everywhere. Nothing cuts particularly well, the blades feel too dull. It crushes, not cuts. It's also too small for a medium to large sized egg. Part of the egg hangs down. I've never been able to cleanly cut anything with it. Wire cutters might not last long, but at least they cut cleanly.

I really wanted to like this remedy. I was looking for a replacement for my Mushroom Xpress which had served me well for several years before it broke. I can't find anymore. I tried a similar model but it broke after about 6 uses. I use a lot of mushrooms and had high hopes for these due to its simple design. I really liked this food slicer for the first few weeks. Now it has more of the cutting effect of a liquid. One of the problems is the long handle. This allows for significant wobble of the cutting end so that the blades no longer move in the center of the grooves of the butt section. They snap to the side panel, get stuck and dent.
