OK Starter Digital Camera

I chose Olympus because I really liked my D-400. Advantages of D-395: Ease of use. Easily transfer photos to your computer or printer. Good color at default settings. Decent characteristics (haven't studied everything yet!). Small enough to fit in a purse or pocket. Uses AA batteries. Not very good, but correctable points: Small XD card included with the camera; bought to replace 128. Like all digital cameras, it eats batteries; Bought batteries. Cons: no optical zoom. Use and learn before you buy!

I now have three Olympus digital cameras. The D-395 was my third and most disappointing but it won't be my last Olympus because I made a consumer error buying this camera. ASSUMPTION! I was looking for a replacement for my old Olympus D-380 because I proudly gave it to my better half. The good performance and reliability of the D-380 was. I figured the newer D-395 would be at least as fast as my old D-380 if it actually got the shot I wanted after pressing the shutter button. Not correct! Be…

Ideal for beginner photographers

My wife wanted a digital camera after her 35mm lens broke. She was looking for something easy to use and reasonably priced. After doing a little research, I chose the D-395 as my 2004 Christmas present. Unlike Kodak, which was just getting into photo production because fewer and fewer consumers were using 35mm cameras, Olympus is a brand with a lot of experience with digital cameras. .
