Low Power, Flat Sound, First Shipment DOA

This unit was purchased to replace a 1990's Technics AV receiver that eventually failed. Being 20 years older and much less likely to listen to loud music, I figured I could do with less power output (this unit is rated at 65 watts per channel, but that doesn't mean the spec draws 6 watts). Ohm or 8 ohm speakers - 65 watts is less if 8 ohm speakers are used). My 8 ohm speakers sounded very flat and the usual background bass was completely missing. The Technics reference block was rated at 110…

Good but better options IMHO

I recently bought this unit and returned it in favor of the Yamaha RX-v373. The Onkyo is basically a good machine but there are a few things I didn't like - the documentation is woefully inadequate compared to Yamaha's and possibly other documents - you can get them online and you should read both before you buy. The unit produced nice, tight, high-quality sound, but I also missed a clean audio input (the Yamaha has 2). Ultimately though, Yamaha produces the best sound IMHO, and the extra power

Great basic receiver but a few things to note

Great receiver for the price (~$200). Overall I really like this receiver (nice sound, good OSD, various inputs, HDMI pass-through in standby) but I have to mention a couple of issues I noticed. The picture/sound occasionally disappeared for no apparent reason and then came back on after a few seconds. Ironically, this happens a lot less often after a month, but it makes me wonder about the long-term reliability of these devices. While you can use your HDMI devices in standby mode, you cannot…

Might be best in surround sound systems

Love the sound quality. In my opinion it is very close to life. (actually my cat noticed this while staring at the speakers while gaming one morning) I've only had the device for a week and I can already fault the device. I would like a blue ring on the volume control. Also, plugins are called combos, like TV/CD, where you really need both separately. It's a great success, but you can replace SAT with TV. Which is almost the same when you have a dish, but not quite. And the USB is very good…

I'm happy to say that mine works without any problems, so.

I bought mine from stock in an open box or repackaged. When it arrived it was in the original packaging and appears to have had the previous shipping label removed. Otherwise I could not say that this is a new block. All original accessories were in the box, still sealed in plastic bags, looked new and unused. The receiver itself was also boxed and looked like new. I should have guessed it was returned to Revane without even opening it. In any case, on the verification of the recipient. I…
