Pleasantly surprised by the quality

I've always used Verbatim media, but when I saw the price of Quantum media I just had to try it. He did not disappoint me and provided me with DL media at an extremely affordable price. It's compatible with both PC and Mac software, and works well with most DVD recorders on the market (note that this is a guess as few manufacturers make media recorders these days). I would recommend them to everyone.

  • Cool
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Optical Quantum 8.5

Overall I like these blanks. They write well and have a good surface on the back for marking with marker ink. Probably based on the weight or just shipping? I would suggest having another storage case on hand when you receive them.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

No stands are even better in DVD+R discs

I burn movies on DVD for my mother, she doesn't understand cable TV but she can load DVD. It works for us. So far so good, there are no coasters yet.

Pros
  • understandable even for old people
Cons
  • some little things

Good value for money

Needed to pick up a new version of Windows 10 20x2. One layer is too small. It's two layers to give you more space. After creating the Windows 10 boot disk, everything works fine.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

Luckily I managed to burn 2 good discs from the first 14 discs. I didn't have to use them until it was too late to turn back. I can't even get them to burn a standard size DVD movie on it. Half the time they fail during the burning process, the other half they fail when I try to play them! I personally do not recommend anyone to use them. Another brand I've tried has already given me 12 good burns in a row with the first 12 discs in the box. Beginning with the same films, these discs were not…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation

Very low success rate 140/200

With 200 discs I have a 30% failure rate. This is unacceptable and I would give it 1 star but given the price you could argue that you can still get more DVDs. Tried Verbatim DataLifePlus drives and still not 0% failure, but that spindle of 50 is $70 too. So if you have a copier and can afford the time to reconstruct bad discs, technically for about $60 you can get about 70 usable DVDs of that brand, so maybe you could justify that. Then the question is how long will they be playable? I will…

Combinations matter

I see negative reviews about dual layer discs all the time, and most people don't realize that there is a drastic brand split. NOT so much on disc stripes, but on a combination of disc brands and burner brands. I've been using these drives with my LG and Plextor drives for years with no problems. Other high-end brand drives have failed. Before I had these two drives I had others and some brands worked well (including this one) and some didn't. You really won't know until you try them. However…

rubbish, need I say more?

Several PCs failed to burn these things, sometimes during recording, always during reviewing. They couldn't even burn them on my DVD copier, which doesn't seem to record anything. In fact when they failed in the copier (doesn't check) when I took the disc out and put it in my DVD players they either wouldn't load or were stuck in many places, again complete garbage and a waste of money. I was attracted by the good price (Verbatim AZO of 1/2 quality, none of mine burns), but I was hoping they…
