Oster Electric Tall Can Opener - 003147-000-002: Effortlessly Open Cans with Sharp Knife; Small, Silver Design Review

This Oster electric can opener is difficult to use when trying to put the can in place first and the pressure required to pierce the can is surprising strong. I was expecting a much better product from Oster and am really disappointed. I would not recommend this can opener to anyone.

I'm getting all my new stainless steel kitchen appliances in about a week so I'm trying to get the little appliances that sit on my kitchen countertop to mix in. I'm came across this can opener online. It's absolutely beautiful! Cuts very gently and quite quietly. I especially like that it works for high doses! I love the look of this can opener and highly recommend it!

I have no idea why people are unhappy. I've had this for a month now. My old B&D can opener was a nightmare. You had to tilt your cans at the right angle and cross your fingers to catch the blade. After reading the reviews about it I was a bit apprehensive but the price was worth it. I also know that I used to be very lucky with Oster. IT WORKS GREAT! My 10 year old can open canned goods with no problem. The magnet attracts the lid every time. The design looks crisp. This is a great purchase.

The description says "High quality built-in knife sharpener”. It is not true. This knife sharpener is a stationary whetstone in a vertical slot at the bottom rear of the device through which you slide the knife. A "highest quality" knife sharpener would be a round whetstone powered by a can opener motor of the kind used in can openers for many years. Due to this misleading description I will be returning this without even trying the jar opening feature.

We just bought this can opener last month and it's already broken. We had a Hamilton Beach can opener that we had for 10 years and never had a problem, this thing breaks in less than a month. The quality is terrible - cheap plastic and the handle keeps slipping. We have something wrong with the engine, it hardly moves now. So we have to throw it away because it's too late to come back and we don't have the box anymore. Better invest your money and buy a better quality can opener, this one isn't

Great electric can opener! I replaced the awful Proctor Silex can opener (bought at Menard's) with this one as the Proctor Silex never worked to begin with. I read the reviews on this and many other models before buying and the fact is that there isn't one that someone for some reason doesn't like. I've used a high-speed side-opening model in the past that gradually stopped working properly after a relatively short period of time. My daughter has the same device and it continues to work perfectly. I suspect the quality control isn't at all what we had in the good old mythical days.
