Description of 🔧 OTC Tools 5911A Drain Plug Pro Magnetic Remover: Easy Solution for Efficient Drain Plug Removal

This versatile tool magnetically attaches to pre-loosened oil pan drain plugs so you can remove them without dropping or getting burned by hot oil. The flexible shaft can be used in virtually any location and held at just about any position and still thread or unthread the plug as desired - all while keeping your hand out of the oil stream. An added feature of the 5911A is a removable magnetic end with a 1/4 inch square drive - when removed, the Drain Plug Pro becomes a flexible shaft 1/4 inch bit driver. Use with sockets and bit holders to get into hard-to-reach places including under dashboards and in engine bays to remove bolts once loosened.

Toyota Camry Oil Plug Remover

I understand that using this item requires you to almost completely remove the drain plug. When I had almost taken it off, the oil was already dripping. I had to act quickly to get the oil flowing into the oil pan. I didn't notice this until I pulled the drain plug out, and due to the magnetization of the tool, the oil was still partially blocked by the plug. It was a bit dirty. I could have changed the oil without it. It would be easier.

Why didn't I have one like this years ago?

I like this tool. I like changing oil when it's HOT, and that initial burst of oil always hits you when you first unplug. This solves this problem. That doesn't mean you'll never oil your hands/gloves, but it helps a lot, especially if you change your oil when you get home from a 4 hour freeway drive. If that hot oil squirt bothers you, it's worth the money to get one. I do a lot of oil changes and this is a great tool for anyone that does.

  • Pleasant to use

A useful gadget for the price

Well, as for the pluses, the magnet is really strong and holds the screw tight. However, like most, my oil pan bolt is pointing down. When the bolt came loose and oil started dripping, the oil ran through the bolt, down the flexible hose, down the handle and down my arm. Exactly what I was trying to avoid. On my second car, I unscrewed the screw by hand and poured the oil into the oil reservoir. I used this tool's powerful magnet to locate and remove the bolt from the waste oil. Problem solved.

You need this tool.

I am teaching my 14 year old son how to take care of his car. I didn't want him to start an oil change with oil on his hands and forearms. I was skeptical about this tool because I had tried something similar in the past and it didn't work. I tried anyway. I think the difference is that it uses a very strong magnet and has two levers to grab the bolt from either side. These two levers make it easier to remove the bolt from the oil pan. I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with this…

Don't buy if you have a stainless steel plug. This will not be attached

Whilst the design and adjustments are good, unfortunately I have to return it in new, unused condition today, having just received it. I have found that it absolutely does not work with the stainless steel magnetic drain plug that I also ordered. I also checked the magnetic fork on my bike and it's SS too. I considered epoxy sealing a small magnet on the drain plug to allow the magnets to pull on the tool, but the socket didn't quite match the head to the plug to turn. I wish the product…

Works great - extraction tools

It works great and is easy to use. Take a ratchet and loosen the oil pan drain plug until it comes out. Remove the ratchet, put this tool on the drain plug, position the pan to catch the oil, rotate the tool counterclockwise and the oil pan drain plug will come straight out of the oil pan and stick to the tool. No more greasy burned fingers. Drain plugs no longer fall into the drain pan. If you change your oil yourself, you will need this tool. You can probably use it for other situations where

  • Almost everything is fine

Great concept but a few issues

Removing the drain pan plug has always been a messy job. So I was hoping that this would make the oil change easier. The shaft is flexible yet stiff enough to get the job done. The magnet is very strong and works great. Almost perfect, but there are two issues that require a bit of practice. 1) The washer on the drain plug is usually made of a non-magnetic material. So it can very easily slip off the drain plug into the sump. I only change the washer occasionally, so in this case I have to dig…
