We needed a good fixed thermometer for a Christmas rib. This one was affordable, had few reviews although all were good, and was delivered quickly. It was delivered on a Sunday - just before Christmas. It worked great! The 10 degree warning feature is great. The cord is long and doesn't get in the way of the oven door. Very happy with this purchase. The only downside was that the batteries were defective, so we replaced them with new ones. It doesn't matter much to us.

One ordered and delivered with a broken battery cover. Didn't give him much importance; things like that happen. I decided to return it but they sent me another one. Was excited when he got here and used it once. It worked great. once. I've literally only used it for dinner tonight and it won't even turn on. I changed the batteries thinking they were just dead. I would give zero stars if possible. I bought this to replace the exact same model I had owned for a number of years but eventually broke. We ordered it in November. Used once and it worked great. At Christmas we tried to use it to take the temperature of our fillet of beef and it didn't work anymore. We tried resetting it, removing the batteries, etc. but nothing worked. It said that the room temperature was 170°C and a piece of meat left at room temperature for over an hour had a temperature of over 200°C. The insanely inaccurate temps make that $40 junk. Overall I like Oxo products, they are simple, reliable, flexible and easy to use. After the first acquaintance with this indelible thermometer, I am not very satisfied. I used it in Alton Brown's Rib-Eye Backfry recipe and found that closing the braided wire oven door actually affected the temperature reading by 4 degrees Fahrenheit.
