Poor results for an Oxo brand item.

Overall I like Oxo products, they are simple, reliable, flexible and easy to use. After the first acquaintance with this indelible thermometer, I am not very satisfied. I used it in Alton Brown's Rib-Eye Backfry recipe and found that closing the braided wire oven door actually affected the temperature reading by 4 degrees Fahrenheit. It could be repeated. when the door was closed the wire showed 120 degrees, with a very slight opening to release the pressure it immediately changed to 124, when it was then released the pressure dropped back to 120. After two or three tests with exactly the same pathology, I'm sure this has something to do with the design. The second issue I encountered was that removing the probe from a rested steak is quite difficult. I'm used to needles that are either much smaller in diameter or have a 90 degree bend at the end that can be gripped with pliers. It's just a straight probe and it's basically stuck. I ended up having to pull the braided wire, which I think will cause even more problems in the future.
